I picked up a couple of these. Have you noticed any flicker at the bottom of the screen when watching the free view channels? Only happens on the living room one and only during the free view channels. Not all the time either but annoying none the less.
So I got a working NowTV Smart Box. It's actually really good, the picture quality on live TV is astonishingly good for streamed IPTV. Haven't put an aerial in it and I'm over WiFi. Seems better quality and reliability than Netflix and prime.
Paid £35 for it and chose 6 months of Entertainment included (£7 a month I think they charge, unsure if I'll renew in Feb but for now it seems a good deal, I really bought it for sports, specifically the Ryder Cup.)
RECOMEDED. -
I've not plugged into Freeview as I've got a Humax box for that.
Ryder Cup week, any tips on how to get cheaper Sky Sports NowTV passes anyone? -

Registered 13 years agoSometimes you can find cheaper passes on ebay and stuff. Sky does a lot of freebies in mail shots as a way to entice new business. -

Booze, generally. They don't tend to make them available with the Nowtv boxes like the entertainment and movies. But they do bundle them with cases of cheap, nasty cooking lager. No. Idea if any are available at the moment.

Is it this weekend? It'll most likely be on NBC Golf via Kodi... -

You don't tend to get many good deals on the sports passes. If you find any give me a heads up! -

Which helpfully told me I can claim a week pass for free as an Npower customer. Marvellous. -

Registered 16 years agoVery much against the ethos of the thread but... I have just secured sky services.
70mb fibre, poverty TV (and I mean poverty, it was basically freeview), landline and anytime calls had been jacked up 3 times in the last year by virgin to 53 quid.
Just popped into carphone warehouse and got:
Unlimited fibre, sky Q 1tb box with the good telly, line rental and anytime calls for £23 a month, no activation fees.
Just got to remember to ditch it this time next year or the price doubles. -

Registered 18 years agoWow. Will have to remember that for when my fibre deal expires in Jan. Does the good telly include sport? -

Registered 16 years agoNah, it's the best telly but no add ons, no sport or movies. -
My step father has just got Sky Q - against my advice natch - and the UI is a hot, confusing mess -

Registered 16 years agoIt's the remote that gets me. The touch remote on the 2tb box is a shocker. -
Yeah, that's what he got. That touch remote got binned pretty toot sweet, utter bollocks. Also, he's not paying £23 a month.... -

Registered 18 years agoI have to say, I'm impressed with the quality of the Sky Sports on Nowtv. Heard indifferent reviews but it's really excellent. Or at least better than I was expecting, even on a 720p only TV. Shame the cost is ridiculous. -
Yes, same. £10.99 for a week, I've got a potty under my sofa to get my money worth -

Registered 18 years agoFree for me, thanks Npower!
Make it 20 quid a month and I'd probably subscribe. I guess they are worried about everyone on satellite jumping ship. -
They'll be just making hay while the sun shines. Their potential market changes in ten years when all the kids who have only ever really been internet TV (YouTube or whatever) come of age where they will lol at the idea of subscription broadcast TV -

Registered 18 years agoThe whole Sky Q thing really confused me. I thought they would definitely make a bigger jump to IPTV. But I suppose decent networks still aren't as ubiquitous as satellite. -

Registered 16 years agoHats off to BT openreach. I kept week overlap with the virgin cutoff dates because I knew they would fuck something up.
After giving me the thumbs up that they had finished and buggering off, I find that not only does the new BT line not work but they have somehow fucked the virgin one too.
So rather than having two working phone lines, I have zero. Fuck sake. -

Did the BT person know they fucked it and ran?

I didnt check it. I called sky to say 'wtf?' and they are sending him back to look at the BT line but its beyond the wit of man to unfuck the virgin line. Hardly seems worth getting it sorted, but still.... fuck sake. My nan and the PPI claimline will be livid.
