| Curious, mainly the two systems sit rather nicely with each other. Cross buy, remote play and PSN+ library accruals, must make it look a tempting purchase at some point. |
PS4 only owners - are you considering a Vita?

Registered 17 years agoI own a vita in readiness for a PS4 (next year ?) although I do keep toying with the idea of selling/trading on here. I have owned since Nov and played less than 20 hours!
To be fair I bought it 100% for CM...but I just don't think we are going to get a release. -

Registered 19 years agoI bought a Vita having bought a PS4 (and Xbox One) at release.
I have played on it more than the PS4 to be honest. I thought it would complement the PS4 nicely, but am amazed at how beautiful it is, and can't believe I didn't get one sooner.
PSN+ library is just amazing (I also have a PS3 even though 360 was main machine for me last time round), it's like a breath of fresh air.
Sony's whole approach makes me wonder just what went wrong behind the scenes with the MS suits from such a commanding position. -

Different strategies. One got it right, one got it wrong. I think the getting it wrong has been done on such a fundamentally core level that will be incredibly difficult to rectify. Luckily, they have 7 years of Sony to look at who did a masterclass in turning things around on the PS3, even if it was more of a consolation by the end of it all.

I will allow this comment to pass without any "carry on" style innuendo re enters and possession being in the same sentence

This. I loves my vita. I initially bought it for remote play for when the wife was watching downton, but soon discovered it has a great bunch of games as it is, so it's been getting loads of use.

Registered 14 years agoI actually went the other way and buying a PS4 was hugely influenced by having a Vita.
I have both Vita and 3DS. The 3DS put me off a WiiU as it is was so overpriced when I bought one near launch.
PS+ was then the main nail in the ONE's coffin. (Many others though. Some have since been pulled out but have ruined the nice mahogany).
PS+ with PS3 and Vita felt like stealing at the end of last year. (Since reduced in quality somewhat but still good). -

Registered 11 years agoI bought a Vita at launch. Have about 20 games for it but it has sat in a cupboard for at least a year.

Registered 17 years agoHad a Vita since launch, play it pretty much every day and am snapping up those PS+ titles for when I eventually get a PS4.
It's not prompted me to go down the Sony route as I've owned a PS3 since launch, but it's cemented my preference for Sony hardware. The cross-buy, PS+ 'free' games thing is really just lovely icing on a super tasty cake. -

Registered 19 years agoFunny enough I'm debating if to get one, I have £60 off from Sainsburys who have the oled model with 16gb tear away for £159. I'm only interested in the remote play of my ps4 as I don't get to use it much due to the wife. Maybe some uncharted as missed that as I had a 360 and am new to Sony.
Some positive comments here about it but I'm worried it will not get much use. Not interested in the jrpg games. -

Registered 14 years agoI have not bought one and don't intend to. No problem with the product itself, just that I don't need to game 'off the TV' at home, and when I'm out I try to read rather than play games if I need to pass the time. I probably play video games too much as it is. -

Registered 14 years agoI'm with PazJohnMitch, the Vita influenced me to jump and get a PS4. The sheer quality of some of the titles available (mainly Persona4 at the moment) coupled with my first real sub to PSN+ and it's great value, made me plump for a PS4 this gen. -

I think PS+ is a real time-bomb sitting underneath future next-gen console purchasers. Whatever console you'd like to buy, if you've had a PS+ sub running for some months you will of course be influenced by the number of PS4 games you will have built up prior to any potential PS4 purchase.
PS+ was then the main nail in the ONE's coffin. (Many others though. Some have since been pulled out but have ruined the nice mahogany).
This is fine while you've got a PS3 and you're well supplied with games, but as PS+ becomes more PS4 content-heavy, you will feel that not buying a PS4 you will lose out on a lot of 'free' content, especially if you do your sums and calculate that the RRP of the content exceeds the price of the console.
That doesn't mean Sony will definitely steal next-gen sales from Microsoft, but it does mean that people are very unlikely to switch from Sony to a Onesie. Sony have effectively put up a ring-fence. Microsoft must respond to this, but of course they won't, because they are twats with undeserved sense of ownership over gaming. -
Of course, if PS+ subs only amount to a few hundred people and their dogs, all the above is rubbish. -
It's true that PS+ has become (I suspect originally somewhat by accident) the nucleus of Sony's strategy.
If they were smart they'd start building music and film into it, and take the likes of Netflix and maybe even itunes down, or certainly take a big bite of their business.
It's ironic. MS saw gaming as their trojan horse to own household entertainment and overtly put it at the heart of their marketing. But Sony put gaming at the heart of theirs, and in doing so have actually given themselves a much better chance of getting the lot. -
PSN+ got me on the path to Vita. I had Gravity Rush, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid and a whole host of other titles sitting there waiting to be used. Felt like it made sense after a while. -
