Right, found a reasonably priced copy of PDX on Vita on eBay so have purchased for the collection (and commutes!) but will definitely consider checking out FT as well. Looking forward to some more Miku action :)

I need to make some new ones.

I was going to post this about a week ago, but I haven't been able to upload to Imgur for well over a week now, on three separate browsers, so I'll have to link to OneDrive:

    FUUUUUUU

I still haven't perfected a song. I have so many with a single missed note, the game hates me. If you add up the cool and good notes there, and check that against the combo count, you'll note that the one safe note was the very last note of the song.

    ;___;

I think it is! Clearly I can't hack it.

I've actually perfected two Hard tracks. WE Umbrella and Melody.

Don't ask how though. I'm barely managing 80%'s on most songs on Normal! I think I just played those way too much.

And I seem to get precisely 87% Cools every damn time. On every song.

    It's really weird.

The first of three DLC packs is out now. £7.99, with a season pass option for a score.

It includes 13 new modules, new accessories, bonus EX Charts, and four additional songs:

    • Ageage Again
    • shake it!
    • Cendrillon
    • Adolescence

It feels wrong to complain given the ridiculous value of the core package, but it seems a bit expensive.

Even more so when you consider that Cendrillon and Adolescence are basically the same song.

I'm glad to see there are more songs coming, but I'll grab the season pass somewhere down the line - I doubt I've even played half of the original songs yet!

PDX on Vita is currently bringing a massive smile to my face - I'd forgotten just how addictive the Miku games are. I'm actually glad I opted for the Vita version over the PS4 version in the end as this will be perfect for my commute now I've finished Ocarina 3D, and my gaming time at home is likely to be taken up mostly by BotW over the coming weeks.

This is the first Miku game I've played where I've actually bothered with any of the extra stuff; not because I particularly enjoy it but because it directly affects the score. Maybe it had an effect on the score in earlier entries, I'm not sure, but I never bothered with it - I just launched straight into the rhythm game using all the default settings/costumes.

Customising the characters is quite fun I guess, but the accessories that give me the best bonus seem to be the ones that make the characters look the most ridiculous (swirly glasses, half mask etc.).

I'm not too sure I appreciate the "story" forced on me between songs but it's harmless enough.

Future Tone is a definite purchase, but I'll exhaust PDX first.

Before tonight, I hadn't played this in about a fortnight. The last time I did, something was wrong. The audio and visuals were ever so slightly out of sync, just enough to be basically unplayable.

I had no idea what had happened; I was playing on the same TV, using the same headphones, so why was my game suddenly ruined!? I thought about trying the calibration tool, but remembered reading a post on Neogaf that suggested it was awful and would make things worse. Instead, I just stopped playing the game.

Then today, I was thinking about it again, as I sat in front of my TV, the Nintendo Switch docked below it. And I realised that, when the Switch came, as I rushed to get it hooked up, I just yanked the HDMI cable out of the PS4 and plugged it straight into the Switch dock. Later, I connected the PS4 back up using the HDMI 3 port, which I'd never used before.

Then I realised what the problem is, whilst coming to the simultaneous realisation that I'm an absolute twat: Because I'd never used that input before, I hadn't set it to Game Mode. I did that and everything was fine.

    Two weeks.

    What a bloody idiot.

I didn't even realise there was such a thing as 'game mode' until quite recently, which is even more embarrassing ...

I've just caved and bought the Future Tone bundle. Hope it doesn't go on sale any time soon!!

Just be grateful you realised before starting Future Tone! How are you finding the game?

I, uh, I accidentally bought another Miku figure.

So, has anyone actually played all the songs in FT yet? The last few times I've played it, I've tried to play new songs. I get a few done then just really want to play some of my favourites!

I'm nearly there. I've been going through them in star order on Normal. On 6 star songs at the mo. It's a LOT of content!

Every song that isn't shit is being added to my Faves list ready for random select Hard diff plays. I have well over a hundred in there so far :)

Also, I think this might be the game where I've seen my biggest upward curve skill progression. I started this as a near novice, having very little rhythm action experience (literally just Space Channel 5 and Diva F), and struggling to get Greats on Normal diff. I was complete shit. Now I'm hankering for Hard mode, and even at some point had a couple of worldwide top 100 spots on the Hard versions of Love is War and Knight of Light, and that never happens with me in any game.

    I'm in deep now :)

    Good work, Somatic!

Yeah, I've been doing that with my favourites list too, though I don't think it's up to a hundred yet. It's probably not far off!

I need to play the older stuff that was on the PSP games, but when I hover over them in the song select the clips that play don't really appeal, so I end up putting them off again. I do prefer the faster-paced/odd stuff though.

Have you seen people playing these games on Extreme and perfecting them? I will never be that good at these games!

Oh! I almost forgot! Heart of Gaming recently opened in my town and they have a PS3 with the Miku controller hooked up :) Definitely going to give that a go soon.

I still wish Matryoshka was in the game. Happy Synthesizer would be nice, too. Still, it's hard to complain when there is so much there.

Heh, yeah, I'm struggling to finish Zelda, Mass Effect and NieR, but I've always got time for Miku :)

I think Extreme diff will be way too much for me. I've come across those triangular multinotes a few times and I just can't deal with them. I imagine they are fairly frequent on the higher difficulties so... screw that!

What input system are you all using? I started by switching to all face buttons as it seemed the simplest, but after reading a suggestion (I think it was one of you) that the default (Left, Up,X, O) makes it easier to read the multinotes I've been using that. It felt a lot easier once I got used to it.

@Ror Sorry, only just now replying to your question of over a month ago: I'm loving it! I don't think I've played even half of the songs yet.

I skipped easy and normal and have been playing on hard as my default choice, now and again attempting extreme and ex extreme. Extreme in this really can be extreme! I didn't have *too* much difficulty finishing most songs on extreme in the previous games but the linked notes in this are really tricky. Also, the overlapping alternating notes are nigh-on impossible.

@chrisp No worries. I knew you wouldn't regret it :)

I haven't tried Extreme yet, but I'll probably have to move up soon, at least for some of the easier songs. Some of those multinotes are a pain though; there's one in Unhappy Refrain that is arranged in a triangle with the point at the top, so you see that and just assume it's square, triangle, circle. It's actually square, X, circle. It's just there to trip you up, and I still screw it up every now and then!

EDIT I tried a couple of input methods, but I ended up sticking with all face buttons as it seems to work best for me.

So this is getting a physical release in Japan (original download, all DLC, plus some extra stuff) under the name Hatsune Miku Project Diva Future Tone DX.

    Might import.

Wonder if they'll rerelease that controller for it. I'd certainly consider picking that up as I'll be in Japan around November or so.

The Future Tone bundle is currently £24.99 as part of the "Big in Japan" PSN sale.

The season pass is on sale at £11.99. Is the DLC any good? Trying to work out whether it's worth it given I'm not close to completing the 220 odd songs that come with the original bundle.
