So I think most people know that i'm not enjoying my job at the moment.
Doubly so because for some strange reason i've agreed to come in an hour earlier to cover some testing that i'm running.

Why the hell do i bother when i phone them at 8 and there's no bugger in? eh? EH?

    /shakes head.

    /hits F5.

It was bloody cold this morning too :( *sniff*

I'm working from 8:00 all this week, fairly pointless really, waiting for the phone to ring and it usually doesn't.

It's freezing in the office at the moment and I'm still wearing my coat while I try to coax some heat out of the radiators. I had also forgotten about an electrical generator test this morning so I'd logged in and the power went for 10 seconds...

Is it time to go home yet?

/hands whizzo a chocolate chip cookie.

There is the advantage of being first in... No one notices you stealing the biscuits...

Biscuits?! Chance would a fine thing, I'm currently peckish so I'm eating the sarnies I'm supposed to have for lunch. I'm not sure why I get hungry when I start earlier, perhaps it was walking past all the fried food when I went to the restaurant to get a cuppa...

I've no idea but I'm wondering what I'm actually going to be eating at lunchtime.

Hmm if it's still a bit chilly I may go for some chips with mayo. Yum.

I always have an 8am start. And it's always bloody 16 degrees in here when I get in too...brr...

Takes ages for my typing fingers to warm up (half an hour on EG usually does it)

So who here lays claim to the earliest start?

Used to be mad enough to come in at 6.30 every morning. Meant i got two peaceful hours to get stuff done before phone started going. Now - a more leisurely 8.30 unless particularly busy. Work evenings and weekends though :o(

Doesn't sound to me like Stixx is taking being a student very seriously ;o)

I get out of bed at 7:40, get into work at 8 and go home at 4, unless I'm doing overtime, in which case I go home about 6.

Isn't that mad? I constantly do a lot of work at home and I've never failed a deadline in two years, although the amount of work on my hands is utterly insane, yet my boss gets upset if a get here fifteen minutes late.

I've worked at a couple of big Japanese companies and the "being there" thing is far more important than the work you do. You could work your arse off for 7 and a half hours, but you'd still get a worse payrise/promotion prospects than someone who does 10 hours of web surfing each day.

    Get over it!

Was up @ 06.15 yesterday, was in Bath for 9am (from Cardiff) for customer pitch/presentation (oh yeah, and no hospitality such as tea or coffee - what is it with companies who think you are a cowboy? You then present to them, answer all their questions and at the end they are falling over themselves to buy the product? The problem is that I NEVER forget the lack of hospitality!), back to Hengoed for meeting at 13.30 with new client to establish project plan, home @ 20.00.

Today, was in @ 9.00 and have an hours presentation to do tonight @ 17.30 for a couple of hours (questions & networking included). may get home by 9pm if lucky...;0)

I keep getting in a 10am, which is good because I get a lie-in, but means it gives my flexitime a good kicking.

Last week I worked out that if I actually got out of bed when my alarm went off, instead of crying into my pillow, I'd be able to finish work at 3:30pm rather than nearer to 6.

I just have no will power.

In case anyone gives a shit, my talk was rubbish, but it was only a practise.

Afterwards my supervisor said something to the effect of "started off brilliantly, confident, well presented then sort of stopped abruptly".

Pretty much the way I wrote it, then :p

7am every day. (Mon-Fri that is!)

And my office is at home, so I don't actually have to get up! So WTF do I?

    /goes back to bed

I think the GF switching the utter shite that is GMTV on at 730am may have something to do with it though. ;(

Hey mentat. If you're looking to perk yourself up, here's something I try from time to time. No it's not granular white powder. Draw upa few columns (Excel will do nicely) and head each one with a different aspect of your life : Work, Friends, Family, Play, Finance, etc.
Then down the left hand side list each month, but allow 1 row per week (so you've got, sya, March, and then 4 or 5 rows further down you've got April, etc).

Thne look at the chart you've made, and fill in events that you know you have scheduled ahead of you.

2 things will come out of it. You'll notice that you have some really good things to look forward to (EG: the EG LAN in April). And you'll notice glaring gaps in other areas which you need to sort out. Before you know it, you'll have your sense of purpose back. it works for me when the wind goes out of my sails.

if nothing else, it'll give you something to do at 8:00 before everyone else comes to work !

Hi Stixx - if you want any help with your presentation then let me know. Email me (check my profile) and I'll give you a call or something. I have co-delivered training on presentation techniques. The offer's there if you want it. :-)
