Registered 4 years agoAre sid, Matt, garrie or Greg still on here? Those were some epic epic MP games together.
Replaying the sp and might jump on mp at some point if I don't get star wars. Such a brilliant game even on my fourth or fifth playthrough. -

Registered 4 years ago@DUFFMAN5 haha you never turned up, we were playing tlou for weeks and you were never on.
. I even went back in this thread to check why my saved games didn't work and it's plain to see Mr that 4 years ago you were, shockingly, not turning up as you were busy on gears of war! Also I seemed to be a bit of an alcoholic at the time. :/. -

Registered 12 years agoI've been meaning to reply this before the second one comes out, and now I've finished FFVIIR it seemed like a good time to do it. But, a question.
I haven't played it since its PS3 release, and I never played the DLC (even though I had it as part of the collectors ed, no idea why I never bothered). The DLC is set before the events of the game, right? So play that first? -

Registered 14 years agoHaving just done a rerun myself I'd do the main game first, the DLC is a flashback/current day. -
So if you want to do a playthrough with Left Behind you could finish the Summer and Autumn acts and start Left Behind at the very start of Winter. Then when you’ve finished it you can get back to the main campaign. -

Registered 12 years agoCheers all. I did start the DLC last night, and it kicked off with a main game cutscene so I went back to the menu and started the main game instead. I've probably forgotten large chunks of it to be fair.
I'll see how I feel at the start of the Winter act. -

Must have completed it four times , I beat it a couple of months ago to be ready for two before it got delayed again. Still find it bizarre how two got delayed indefinitely due to covid then gets a new release date that was only three weeks later than the May date. The dlc is great first time but subsequent runs haven't held up like the main game. -

True enough. The first game I ever played on my PS4 was Final Fantasy XIV. I started watching some cutscenes to catch up as I hadn't played it a while, and the noise of the console blew the fucking walls down.

I've been homeless ever since. Thanks a lot, Sony. -

Registered 14 years agoNever got the hype with this. Put ten hours into it and got very bored. Clear area of zombies. Clear area of cops. Clear area of zombies. Clear area of cops. I gave up on it after a while. -

Me neither. Didn't find it repetitive in that regard at all. I mean you could say that about any adventure/shooter broadly. Moving through locations clearing enemies is kind of the point.

It’s one of my all time favourites games but like Uncharted, it’s the characters, atmosphere and game world that make it so good, not the combat which is imho repetitive and a touch on the clunky side. I don’t personally think Naughty Dog have ever really got close to nailing a satisfying combat loop in their games. But it doesn’t stop their games being A+.
I’m debating with myself whether it’s too soon to the sequel for a refresher play through. Also not sure it’s the best lockdown game thematically speaking.

Registered 9 years agoI think they do well with the melee combat, their gunplay leaves a lot to be desired though. I'm saying that as someone who loves the game. Uncharted is much the same. -

Registered 6 years agoReally didn't like the controls first time I played it but I replayed a fair chunk of it quite recently and enjoyed the gunplay a lot more. The lack of precision in the controls give the gun fights a realistic feeling of panic when it kicks off. I think having a really low input lag on the TV may have helped a bit as Uncharted 4 felt a lot more playable too. -

Registered 4 years agoThe combat is one of my favourites. It has a certain feel to it that makes it feel real. It's messy and brutal and you need to adapt on the fly. It's also what made the mp so bloody brilliant. -

It’s an odd terms for the human enemies though, that show a certain lack of observation for the game in general.
He obviously just means the enemies that aren’t zombies.
Whether that contributed to or was a result of his ambivalence to the game is for him to decide, but it doesn’t help the criticism when it’s so lazy.
You’re absolutely right that the ND games are very much about character drama and atmosphere primarily, coupled with gameplay. If the narrative stuff doesn’t grab you the gameplay likely won’t carry you through. -
@Bichii I always regret not getting into the multiplayer as everyone always says how great is was.
