Is this deal really as good as it looks or is there some catch like they're astonishingly poor quality or something? Also, does anyone with a bit more knowlegde on the matter know if it's possible to use them alternately with a laptop and Xbox, or if they'll only work with certain systems (ie. not consoles)?

PS. Are they really trying to make the speakers look like mini Xboxes??

Edit: Should probably clarify that they're normally £40 - reduced to £20.

Doubt they have any decoding or amplification in them - just a set of cheap speakers.

There appears to be a little box in the photo, so I think we have amping. The 'Input Type' in the spec list is beyond useless though.

Well spotted. They mention 45W RMS but is that the max the speakers can handle or what the amp is rated at?

They'd need multitudes of cabling and adapters then to fit up with a PC/Xbox, is it?

Yeah, I noticed that, but, I mean they can't get much wrong with a few speakers, surely...

These sites highlight everything I hate about shopping for AV stuff online. The spec lists are nextto useless.

I bought some of these for 15 quid more than they're currently priced at, pretty good, built in Dolby Digital 5.1/Pro-Logic/DTS decoder.

Works fine with my Xboxes, PS2 and DVD player. The sub is quite oomphy as playing GR2 demonstrates quite nicely, they're a bit hissy at low sound level but you'll not notice that unless you're fairly close.
