Loving this. I was quite a bit behind, had 7 or so episodes stored up on my box, now wholly caught up. The characters have been terrific. The direction great, and cinematography awesome. Really enjoyed it.

Really enjoying this as well. One question I have is what happened to the super market guy? I know his son and the body guard got killed in the car crash after he buried the money but I am really struggling to remember where they left it with him.

That was pretty much where they left it. I doubt they'll go back to it. Seemed like more of a side-story than anything, though the way it tied in with the film was pretty cool.

Ah Ok. I just thought there was a little more to that story. Just what was Malvo's motivation for it all anyway? It seemed like it was related to the money that was found but it was not very clear. It's been a long time since I watched the film and I don't remember it very well now but I am guessing the found money was something related to what happened in the film.

    Yes, it was.

As for Malvo's motivation... well, clearly he's doing it for the lols. That's pretty much why he does anything in this show.

It's not about money. He just likes being a prick.

Yeah I thought that might be it but it did still seem like there could be something else going on.

In the last episode (UK) I think Malvo’s malicious comments to the new family that had moved into Lesters old house have been inserted to remind us that actually he is the devil himself and that maybe we should not really be liking this character after all? I’m starting to think he may not come away from this smiling.

I am thinking we have certainly not seen the last of Mr. Wrench so I expect that might play into what happens to Malvo.

You're not supposed to *like* Malvo's character. He's a massive penis. He's just an entertaining penis.

Anyway, finale done. It wasn't quite up to what I was hoping for - I wanted Lester to be dragged off to prison kicking and screaming, and Molly to confront Malvo - but it was more than good enough.

If they can keep up this level of quality in future stories, this will be an absolute classic. Hell, it already is.

    Spoilers Ahead, obviously!!
Fantastic series. But as already mentioned, the problem they'll now have is finding someone more awesome and menacing than BBT. I can't think of many villains in TV shows that have bettered his performance in this.

His fucking face after the shots to the gut was priceless, sinister bastard. :)

Perhaps next season will be what happened in Sioux Falls in 1979. Her dad didn't really explain what that was about, so would tie the two seasons together quite nicely.

Brilliant finale great all round cast but BBT was by the best throughout the season. It'll be a big risk to replace the whole cast and do a new story. I just don't see them improving on that unless they attract more big names. Perhaps if they could pull in Bryan Cranston, though he's probably staying in movies at the moment. Or perhaps some of the original movie cast could work.

That said a prequel would make the most sense. Though last thing I read was that the Sheriff woman was the only one who had signed a 2 year contract for the show. So she could be the only one returning.

Finally got to the end of this. Absolutely loved it - will there be a second series?

In a way it would be better if not, of course. Leave it as one perfect whole.

They're still thinking about a second series. But if they do one, it will have mostly new characters.

Might just rewatch this one some time soon. Think there were loads of little touches I will have missed first time around.

I'm guessing the new season will be set in the past, about the incident (can't rememeber the name of it) that is mentioned a few times. When her dad had to sit on the porch with a shotgun. He'll be the main character, younger obviously and still in the police, and Colin Hanks's boss will be in it too.

Sioux falls I think it was. And yes I agree. I watched the series yesterday and in the final episode I also thought the same, i.e. the next season being set in 1979 with whatever happened in Sioux falls.

Great TV though. Even if they don't make another season this one season stands well on its own! Will certainly buy and watch again when it is released on DVD/Blu-ray.

Loved the series and BBT in particular...

I'm still a bit confused how evidence works there though...

Calling Malvo at his motel for instance or the brother getting booked possibly having an alibi/none of his DNA on the murder weapon or clothes and such...

And how did they explain the whole Malvo shooting?
"So you entered here because you saw a red car, you waited for him instead of calling the police, shot an unarmed/immobile man who you wrongly arrested a year ago and found a whole bunch of inadmissable evidence? Someone arrest Lester ASAP!"

Sioux Falls, that was it. Yeah, I can definitely see the next season exploring that, they mentioned it too many times without ever explaining it to leave it.

@AcidSnake the Malvo shooting I put down to it being a small town, they wanted him gone, he used to be a police officer, etc. If it had been some large city, that would definitely have been a problem.

Besides, he might have just said Malvo looked like he was reaching for a gun or something. I think they were just happy to have Malvo dead and to move on.

    @Cosmicfuzz:
He used to be a police officer until he gunned down another cop and the FBI would have been involved at that point though they might feel the same towards a cop-killer...

Though the first bit (Lester framing his brother) could easily be explained away by Bill's incompetence...

Anyway, minor niggles, still a very good show...

@AcidSnake regarding your first point, was it ever actually revealed that she told her boss who shot her?

And yeah, Bill's incompetence is actually a good point for how that worked out!

It wasn't explicitly stated but he did say he was going to tell the truth...

To be honest I don't think it's supposed to be 100% realistic, is it. Plenty of stuff doesn't really stand up to scrutiny. It's kind of a parable I guess, much like a lot of the Coens' films.
