Need a replacement 85w Magsafe 1 - best place to get it?

I really worry about stuff like that on eBay. So much fake shit around. Particularly worrying when you read about Chinese people dying from using fake Apple chargers. -

Registered 16 years agoYeah those stories have also put me off buying non-official chargers for my gear. Or non-official batteries.
I had a griffin double usb adaptor that got so hot once i burnt my hand on it. Luckily no fire. -
Was hoping a London/UK location and high feedback user would be relatively safe. Don't really want to wait for some round the world Hong Kong shipping. -
Can you not get one from Apple? -

I'd second Kalel's view.
I bought a 60W magsafe from Amazon myself a couple of years back. I was lucky and it was a genuine one which is still going strong. Too many people (even on Amazon) were complaining about fakes that burnt out quickly. I bought mine from a company called Charger4U, but unfortunately, they do not appear to sell 85W magsafes.
Its a bit of a minefield, so read reviews VERY carefully or you may as well just throw the money away. -

this is possibly the way to go. If you order it from Techo (read the reviews from people of their orders), it will cost you £46, (with p&p), but it seems that they are selling genuine ones. -

Ok, but it might be worth £20 or so for a guarantee that it's real, will work for the reasonable longterm, and you can definitely and easily get a replacement if there's a problem. And that you won't die using it.

And if that £20 really is life or death to you, then why have you bought an Apple product? -

Registered 16 years agoThere are third party ones on amazon that are ok. Cant remember the specific one I have, but it was cheap, well reviewed and hasnt set fire to my house as of yet. -

Went with Amazon's. £10 more expensive than Temco's there BUT I did a Prime trial, so will have it tomorrow AND a bunch of TV streaming to boot.
