I think it's going to be terrible, however, I think it would be a mistake just to try and make it like the Marvel films .

DC has always been a bit more po-faced than Marvel with loftier themes. I think it's right not to treat them with too light a touch, but again, this will obviously be terrible.

This is the basic problem with DC. They work fine in the medium they were designed for, even cartoons, but cinematic they are not.

No reason this couldn't be pretty decent. They will need a fair bit of rejigging to work in film, but if you can get a team of X-Men together that scream soundwaves, spit acid, shoot rays from their chests and turn into blue hairy monsters without looking lame, no reason the same can't be done here.

The problem is that, as seen by BB101's comment about elongated man, DC have tried to contemporise some of the characters and give them reasonably meaty plots.

The problem is, however, no matter what you do to them, their names are still 'Elongated Man' and 'Hawk Girl' and they still wear stupid spandex leotards.

Yeah, some of the name's are crap, but I'm guessing only the core team will be present here, and their names aren't too bad really. Costumes can and will be altered I'd imagine.

I also think if folk turn out in their droves to see Guardians of the Galaxy (which remains to be seen, tbf), which features a talking raccoon and a walking tree, then this will be fine.

The names are pretty terrible and the costumes, far more than marvel, are parts of their core identity. Its why everyone shat themselves when JMS made her put on some trousers.
