Yeah it was actually fine, maybe three attempts ish.

I finally got him in a riposte loop with the pistol axe combo.

DLC completed. Ended up using the twin swords.

Think I'm ready to finish the game off.

Iím done. Needed my only summon of the game for Gehrman.

Uninstalled straight away, not doing the DLC for a while. I loved it, but it consumes you too much. And I did too much farming which made it a bit repetitive.

@OllyJ The DLC is excellent. Another 10 or so hours depending on your level. They recommend level 65 .

I take it back. The DLC bosses are terrible bar Maria. One shot, spam heavy bosses are no fun.

I'm of the fairly unpopular opinion that most of the bosses are a very annoying impediment to exploring new places and fighting monsters in theses games, which is the bit I enjoy. I'm surprised how much I remembered and how relatively easy it was when starting a new game a couple of days ago...and then I got to Gascoine. He's just on you relentlessly in beast form. Eventually beat that twat by going on my instincts and dodging a lot rather than following internet advice and now I'm back to BSB who I remember not having any problems with. Not this time! I need a "I'm not enjoying this, can we skip it and get back to the game, please?" button.

    -edit-

Just read back a few pages and realised BSB is optional...I new something was bugging me about that arsehole.

With the likely new influx of PS Plus players, I think it's time to dust this off and have another run through. Anyone thinking the same?

I just managed to complete it yesterday, having started at lauch. I got burned out a few times, most recently sometime last year at the last boss. Apparently there are a few of those; the one I fought was Gehrman. I didn't read any guides or anything, just picked my options as they came, not knowing what the consequences would be.

I repeatedly tried and failed to kill it, to the point I ran out of my stored 200+ health potions and finally gave up in disgust. Since I'm not buying any new games this year, I started playing again and beat it after 5 tries I think (2 tries before that I got him down to maybe 5% health, but I got too excited and of course blew it). It's a very random fight, sometimes it's relentless and leaves no room to breathe, other times it's very laid back and lets you get in a number of hits before you have to retreat and heal. It really reminded me of Rom in that respect: I tried to beat the fucker again and again and it just eviscerated me with its plethora of attacks, and then one time, as if it'd just got tired of killing me time after time, it did pretty much nothing at all and let me kill it. Oh well.

Awesome game, all in all, with the notable exception of the chalice dungeons. Repetitive, boring and so very tedious. When I think about going through the game again on NG+ that is the thing that gives me pause. I understand I need to get through them to get the plat, though, so I just may do it if I can keep up buying no games.

@dominalien yes, you do need the chalice dungeons to get the plat. The major hurdle is the amygdala in the cursed chalice. Although there is the hurdle of grinding ones way through them to get to the necessary boss for the plat.

You should consider cooping the dungeons as it is kind of what they are for.

I started this again, and for the first time in the Pro. Quite disappointed that it doesn't seem to have done much to smooth the framerate, but I'm absolutely loving the game again - why did I stop playing in the first place!?

Started a new game tonight after not playing for years, one shot on cleric beast and gazza which I was chuffed with. Some bloody stupid deaths to minions that I need to tidy up on though. The guy in the machine gun tower is getting it next as he is an annoying twat.

After defeating a boss can you still use the small resonant bell to help others with that boss?

I can sort of see why they might not be everyone's cup of tea, but personally I love the chalice dungeons. What's not to love about more Bloodborne, in the form of intensely atmospheric, randomised (in the case of the root chalices) underground labyrinths containing unique monsters and bosses, unique loot and substantial lore significance? I just hope they do something similar in their next game.

If anything, making it through the chalice dungeons in one piece really sharpens your skills. Rest of the game is a doddle after that.

Bar Orphan of Kos, died more to it than most of the other bosses combined

@FuzzyDucky same, only boss in all the souls games and this I gave up on because it got to the point there was a risk my controller would get thrown at the TV.

Finally caved and got a ps4 pro for this seen as it's free this month. Got SOTC for free with the console and they're the main 2 games I wanted.

Looking forward to getting my arse handed to me in this. If it ever fucking downloads that it. So slow compared to steam.

Let us know what you think after a couple of hours play! Have you played a Souls game before? PS4 wifi seems slow AF, try going wired if you can.
