I'd probably wait for the Vita! It might dampen your opinion of the Vita release if you're playing the superior PS3 one so close to launch.

I think you'd be silly to expect it to be true console quality - the fact it's a console game like Borderlands on a handheld is amazing enough for me.

Being able to play Borderlands 2 while sat at the girlfriend's house or in bed is something I'm really looking forward to. Getting tempted to try BL2 on PS3 to have a quick go with each of the non DLC character classes. What do you guys think to the idea? Just wait for Vita?
I was going to do the same, and spend a good half hour redeeming a massive list of golden key shift codes that i found to rack up a good hundred or so keys ready for vita time... but the ps3 patch isnt out yet so you cant use the cross save just yet ...

I've read quite a few impressions. As others have stated, long load times (but large areas between loads), the framerate can get bad, there is considerable lag on the menu/inventory screens oddly, very small font, generally enemies come in quite small numbers but very rapid respawning negates this somewhat (the most credible seeming review says max 7 or 8, during the bar brawl, a closed environment), and some claim the damage numbers appear a beat or two later than they ought too. Also, some game crashes after a couple of hours straight play, particularly in a certain area, can't remember which.

General consensus is that it's good though and well worth playing. Doubt the frame rate issues will be improved, but you'd hope a patch will rectify the crashing.

I'm definitely getting it, oh yes.

So are all the user reviews just delusional Vita fanatics?

I guess the users have lower expectations. A lot of reviewers treat the vita as a portable ps3 and if it falls down on that, it gets marked down unlike the 3DS.

If it runs as badly as those reviews suggest, then it deserves the low-ish scores. We know console-style 3D games can work on the Vita, see Uncharted, Killzone, NFS etc. Shame.

95 from PlayStationLifestyle, IGN are typically always guilty of marking down for not being a ps3 and you will rarely see a positive review from Escapist for a Vita game. We all know the issues, 5/10 seems harsh but expected.

5 sounds harsh, 95 sounds like a Sony mouthpiece. Think somewhere in the middle is more accurate judging by all the impressions I've read. It's got problems, probably a bit too ambitious for the Vita (I personally think the console versions were pretty ropey technically), but if you can overlook its flaws you've got Borderlands 2 in your pocket, which is either very appealing to you (it is to me!) or sounds like an exercise in compromised frustration.

It's going to be flawed but fun. I'm looking forward to it rather a lot considering how much I've already played it on the 360.

Reddit impressions from those with the game seem to be really good overall, with nearly everyone posting loving it. Seems much more valuable feedback than reviews, if anyone was on the fence about their order.

Please stop encouraging people to buy Vita games! You're like a salesman. We have no duty to support the Vita. Honest.

No duty but thought following the discussion regarding reviews that people might be interested, especially those who stated they are on the fence?

I'm not sure, if it was all negative stuff I wouldn't have bothered to spend the time reading it myself after having read a few reviews already and got a clear idea of what the negatives are with the game.

Aye, the addon packs would not work with a US copy, as all included DLC needs to be downloaded from the store.

I've been wondering why they thought it would be a good idea to shrink the main version, suffer alot of compromises and hope it sells. Perhaps this is an experiment to see if it would work or something. Strange.

I have it on pc and ps3, and I still have a slight niggle to try it on vita. I can see it being on Plus though so I shall wait :p

@Wavey Yeah, I kind of wish they'd have made a Vita-specific Borderlands game, rather than downport BL2 to it. I guess that'd cost a fair bit more though.

Still, I've got this on pre-order for £18-something, so if it is indeed as turd as reviews suggest, I won't be too bent out of shape about it.
