Registered 15 years agoWith this, portentously Halo 2 HD, Gears 4 and Sunset Overdrive later this year, I'm feeling pretty chuffed double dipping with next-gen consoles. -

If Halo 5 was just Halo 3 with better graphics and a good net code they'd have my vote 100% -

Well, Halo 3 is the pinnacle of console FPS so it's not really damning. -

Registered 9 years agoI really dont think I'll ever enjoy a game like I did (and still do) like Halo 3 ever again.
Even if Halo 5 is half as good as Halo 3 it will be a good game as far as I'm concerned. -
I'd say Halo 3 has been bettered repeatedly in FPS terms. I came to it late in the day and have been spoilt by the titles I've played inbetween. -

Registered 12 years agoI've played through Halo 3's campaign at least ten times over the years (SP and co-op), as well as hours spent in its MP, Theatre and Forge modes. One of the very best games of the 360/PS3 generation as far as I'm concerned. -

Registered 9 years agoYeah, me too. I was one of the few that really enjoyed the campaign. Went through it countless times! The multiplayer was basically the last proper competitive MP experience for console gaming. Even now days it still has that 'one more game' feel to it. -

Is the MP still decently populated? I haven't played it since Reach came out. And I haven't played Reach's MP since Halo 4 came out. I should go back and have a go of both of them some time.

Registered 9 years ago@Ror1984 Its good enough, although you cant really find a game in all playlists. For the main ones though it doesn't take too long at peak times. If they still tracked stats on it id still be playing it every day. -

Registered 14 years agoHalo Reach's MP would have been way better than 3's if it didn't have loadout abilities messing with the flow of combat. The community features were excellent, though, and yet to be matched. -

Registered 12 years ago@Nades Cheers, I'll have to try it out a bit later. I just got my 360 back from my brother (who had borrowed it for a couple of months) yesterday, so played the first couple of levels of Reach last night. I'd forgotten how fucking great that game is too.
Been in a bit of a Halo mood recently, as a mate got me the H4 soundtrack as a birthday present. I already had all the others, but that prompted me to give them all a spin over the last couple of weeks.
I fucking love Halo, me. -

Every long lasting series seems to do that at one time or another.
Probably looking for a way to get Cortana back -

Registered 18 years agoI don't think much comes close to the Halo sandbox other than Battlefield multiplayer. Weapons have been great in that as well.
Halo needs a good jolt now though but keep it clean. Don't want stat, progression, upgrade seizures. Be the lone keep it simple IP once again. -

I appear to be in the minority here but I found 3's campaign to be a bit of let down, I'd want 5's to be far better.

There's probably quite a few, to be honest. Halo 3 has some standout missions (The Ark, the Covenant, Tsavo), a bunch of average ones (Sierra 117, etc), and a few shitty ones. It's very inconsistent, and nowhere near the pinnacle of the FPS genre. Reach's campaign is far and away the best Halo campaign as it is consistently high quality throughout.

If I had to rate Halo Campaigns, I'd say
Halo Reach > Halo ODST > Halo 4 > Halo > Halo 3 > All other FPS games ever > Halo 2
Unless you mean MP, in which case Halo 3 was pretty good. Aside from some of the maps.

I'm not talking about just the campaign I'm talking about the entire package. -
Let's not get into this again, it's really dull. And moot, seeing as the proper order (as complete packages, in terms of 'feel' as much as features):
Halo 3 > Halo > Halo 2 > Halo: ODST > Reach > 4
I do very much like a lot about 4, but not as much as the rest. Reach was terrific, but MP messed ever so slightly too much with the 'feel' of play. -

Registered 15 years agoRight. I felt like the campaigns got worse with the initial games then improved significantly design wise after 3 but the MP got worse after 3 as they messed with the formula too much. -

Registered 12 years agoI know the Cortana level gets a lot of hate, and I can understand why, but I thought it played really well. On anything above Normal difficulty, it was really the first level where equipment came into its own to help get you past the pure Flood forms. -
Cortana was pretty poor in comparison to the rest, though. One undersung feature of Halo 3 was differentiating the Flood, meaning you had to employ slightly different tactics against them rather than 'run, shotgun, run'. -

Edit - there's an argument for COD4 too.
