It's on Kickstarter. Looks quite interesting. I've backed it; they've got all the footage but they say they need cash for editing, legal fees etc.

"So, this is not a documentary about Star Wars. It's a documentary about 10 people whose lives are linked by having appeared (sometimes for less than a second) in Star Wars. Yes, there are plenty of completely new stories and insight for the Star Wars fanbase but, at its heart, we want this to be a thoughtful, engaging and entertaining independent documentary about the effect a cultural behemoth can have on the lives of those involved on even the slightest basis."

    That's that sorted then.

Where do I pick up my pitchfork and an "I call shenanigans" placard?

They want £30,000, and the documentary has already been shot?

Er, yeah, I don't think so.

Seeing as this will no doubt be distributed online, they don't need a fraction of that for post-production on a "fan made" documentary.
To be honest I don't really see why that's relevent. If you want to watch this film for £10 pledge, otherwise don't worry. You don't refuse to see a film in the cinema because you know it cost 50m to make and has already made more than that. Maybe it will take them 6 months to edit and the guy earns £60k a year, so he has to get paid that to make it worth it. If it gets overfunded by 5 times then good for them, they came up with a good idea and made a profit out of it.

Kickstarter is there to fund projects so a product can be brought to market and sold. It's not supposed to be a way of putting money into one's pocket.

Use the funds to make the product. Then sell it and use the money from sales for the hookers and blow.

If I were to ask you for fifty quid to get the materials to make a wee wooden sculpture on the understanding that you'd get one would you be cool if I spent a tenner on some sandpaper and a piece of wood and spent the other 40 down the boozer?

Important point... It's Elstree studios in Borehamwood! Us Woodites get a bit precious about that!

I think a lot of people use it when they mean "tosser".

If you drew a venn diagram then there'd be an overlap, but not all hipsters are tossers and vice versa.

It really annoys me anyway because, you know, I've been like using the term 'hipster' for ages. Like, before anyone else was, but it's just lost all meaning now.

The whole point of hipsters is to be ahead of the cool curve. Star Wars has never left that curve.

More likely mowgli views as hipster, hence he is irate at kids wearing SW shirts. Or some such half-baked shite.

Kids can wear whatever the hell they like. Just so long as they keep off my damn lawn.

I kind of get what mowgli is saying, though hipster is probably the wrong word. There's a whole bunch of people who are suddenly into Star Wars more than they would (or should) be, getting annoyed about Expanded Universe being declared non-canon despite not giving a flying arse about any of it before JJ Abrams and Disney got involved, etc etc.
