Exciting day today. Iíve had a busted up vintage Bang&Olufsen system (turntable, tape, tuner) in storage for an age but having been at home for months Iíve been getting through my to do list, and I finally got round to packing it all up and shipping it off to be fully repaired and restored. Arrives back today in full working order. And I picked up the matching CD player that came later off eBay as well. Exciting!
    Pics please!

    I too would like pics.

Do you have appropriately old speakers to run it on? And what tune are you going to christen it with?

The system has its own speakers. In fact theyíre probably the best bit as theyíre the somewhat legendary cx-100s.

    Itís this system:

Open to suggestions for first tune. Feels like it needs to be era appropriate, but also futurey. Maybe some Vangelis.

My dad has the Bang & Olufsen system that Alan Partridge buys himself at the end of season 1.

Also, this guy is great. Clearly an absolute nerd, but also a decent presenter. Good channel.
Personally I think this is quite excellent.

Any tune I suggest is going to be laughable but I'm now listening to Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith :)

Little Willy by Sweet is a timeless classic for reference sound.

I've never tried a B&O record player - they always look like the cheapie ones you'd get on those big tower multi-systems in the 80's.

Be interested to hear your thoughts on how it compares to the Project Carbon.

Itís not set up yet but Iím not expecting the whole system to compete with my main set up sound wise.

I wouldnít say it looks cheap though. Itís all brushed aluminium and solid as fuck, and the turntable has crazy auto tracking tech going on.

All set up now and Iím absolutely in love with it. It sounds fantastic. Itís definitely not a neutral reference sound by a long way so purists wouldnít like it, but itís tight as fuck, clean and really easy and fun to listen to.

Itís also a mind blowing piece of tech considering itís 40 years old. It does everything automatically and itís just so cool. Looks incredible.

Iím completely rethinking my whole set up now. This is the statement set-up Iíve wanted. Only thing wrong is the speakers, which while great, are small for the space I want to move it into (just set up in our spare room at the mo). So I think I might stop saving for my dream turntable and instead use the funds to get some vintage B&O speakers. Possibly the Pentas which are slight overkill but fuck it.
