The thing is, the core userbase for things like this won't care in the slightest. They'll buy it as DLC/an expansion pack without a second thought. That shit like "SIMS 3 PRIMARK CLOTHES PACK" could make it into the charts is testament to that.

Registered 13 years agoThe mind boggles. It's just a big 'fuck you' to everyone who likes the series.
Maybe we'll only get male sims as well, since obviously female sims take more time to animate. -

EA are not sending out advance copies for review. -
I haven't paid any attention to The Sims 4 whatsoever, but just saw a few screenshots, etc. Are they having a laugh, or am I wearing rose-tinted glasses? It looks exactly like The Sims 3 from 2009. O_O -

Registered 13 years agoMy favourite feature of The Sims 3 was to be able to go to my friends house and sneak into the bedroom to take pictures of his wife sleeping.
I would then go home and decorate the whole house with pictures of her in her negligee before inviting them round.
They never seemed bothered but I suspected that was because my Mansion full of high end goodies outweighed the possibility of me being a psychopathic murderer.
I hope this feature is still included. -
My gf loves the Sims, shame this one looks crap. -

Registered 18 years agoI did see a let's play of this the other day it doesn't look as bad as some people are making out. You do still seem to be able to wander out of your house and visit your neighbours. Also it seems to run a hell of a lot better than Sims 3(not exactly difficult, though I suppose there are no expansions loaded) and the interface seems much improved.
Still, I'm not sure why anyone would bother considering they'll probably start chucking out add ons before too long. -

Registered 10 years agoHow exactly does reviewing this work then, when EA withholds the prerelease copy? Do Eurogamer and other sites have to obtain their own copy if they want to review it? Or will EA send one now that the release date is passed in most territories? -

EA did provide pre-release review copies, but only to dedicated sims fansites. EA has attempted to suppress this fact by deleting references to it on their official forums, but you can easily find it elsewhere through a google search.
Other sites are getting them after the US release, to prevent negative pre-release reviews (which might mean EG has theirs now).

Registered 10 years ago@spamdangled Thanks man. I've since heard that the embargo passes on Monday apparently, so hopefully we'll get a Monday/Tuesday EG slamming of this mess with a tasty 6/10 -

Well the site I run wasn't under embargo as we didn't get review copy, and we just published our review an hour ago after playing the game since Tuesday.
3/10

Cheers dude. Heather was so fucking disappointed it isn't true. I've never seen her rage about something that much. She's been a diehard Sims fan from the very start, so when she gives a Sims game the thumbs down it's genuinely honest.
Newcomers to the series will definitely get something out of it, as they won't feel the sting of the missing features. But even then, the additions simply don't make up for everything that's been removed, so even newbies would be better off going with Sims 3 (or even better, Sims 2, given how cheap it is now) -

Registered 18 years agoIt's a shame because I really like playing around with the Create-a-sim demo and the new interface looks good.
We've got an interesting competitor to Sim City on the way so we need someone to have a go at The Sims as well! -

Registered 13 years agoIs this playable on an i3 laptop? The cpu looks fine but the on board Intel gpu might be a problem. A few places online selling codes for rather cheap. Looks dodge.
Love the pirate tackling technique too. If it wasn't ea though I'd be more impressed -

Registered 12 years agoI just bought Sims 3 again off a CD keys site for 8 Euros to scratch the Sims itch the release of this has caused.
I'm holding off 4 until it improves and maybe even until a console release (assuming one happens). -

Registered 13 years agoEnded up going with them and worked out fine. Nice quick and easy. Gf seems happy with it too and runs smoother on the laptop than sims 3 ever did although with graphics turned down to min -

Registered 16 years agoI was briefly tempted, but as they haven't bothered bringing a mac version out yet, I can'y anyway. I have all the sims 3 expansions anyway (minus the stuff packs - I hate the stuff packs!) as well as some of the web shop add ons, so I'm happy to stick with 3 for quite a while longer! It's practically the only game I play these days anyway. -

Registered 13 years agoI'll get my gfs opinions later. She's a massive sims fan but a really casual gamer so will be interesting to see how she feels about the new version. -
My gf has been on it all weekend and enjoys it. Then again she only got a couple of expansions for the Sims 3 so the gap in content isn't huge for her as that seems to be the number one complaint atm. Isn't that the case with every new sims game anyway? She also was extremely happy to not have the toddler phase between baby and child as she always thought that was a waste of time.
Very happy so far.
