Just saw the latest trailer for his upcoming film. Jam packed with green tinted scenes. Why? Is he colour blind?

Shirt, Fincher. Not Fischer. David Fincher. Gone girl is the trailer.

If you look closely at Alien 3 you can tell it was slightly tinted with shit.

    I still love it though

Can't say I've ever seen any green tinted scenes in his films.

Maybe I'm the one who is colour blind. When I looked at this I found the green tint so distracting that it took me out of the story

I find the matrix to have a similar effect but at least they had an excuse (being inside the matrix had a green tint as a nod to the green on black displays of the early nineties)

Looking at clips and trailers from batman, girl with the dragon tattoo and seven I see a green tint in nearly every scene. Even most of the blue and yellow tinted ones have a green cast to them.

It's an aesthetic choice. I guess Fincher felt it gave a certain mood to proceedings, or maybe he just likes that colour scheme.

It's achieved partly by lighting and partly by the digital intermediate process, where colours can be fine tuned in post production.

Very, very few major films use natural colour schemes. Some are more subtle than others, but they're all put through the same process.

It's weird how black and white was the aesthetic choice for so long.

    Lens flare
    Lens flare
    Star wipe
    Fin

(If I were a fancy Hollywood director)

Well he didn't do Batman for a start. Could be your screen has suddenly gone funny whilst you've just been watching Fincher clips.

Sometimes films have music in that isn't music that's actually playing from a source like in real life, but is like magic music that is just somehow playing that nobody in the film can here but only we can. Although sometimes Ben Affleck looks like he might be able to hear it when he's staring off into the middle distance meaningfully. it's a stylisitical decision I think.

Why is J.J panned for his lens flares and Scumsack McTransformer for his orange and teal yet no one is mentioning Finchers love of green?

Look at Panic Room. My good. It's fugly.

@Tonka If you're colour blind, I am as well. That is a very green trailer.

I'm pretty sure my computer is playing up with that trailer. It IS super green, but it's also unwatchable. Like a film reel misaligned.

Damn right, Tonka - you call him on it! ;)
From here on I will refer to him as David Fiddlers Green

@LeoliansBro that title would have looked great!

But you are right. Why choose green? Had he said anything about it? I get orange and teal (I think it's one of the combos Itten mentions) and I get yellow (makes things look warm and cosy). But green just makes it look as if he fucked up the white balance.

Therefore I thought he might have said something about it or that someone might have asked him about it.
