@Tonka If you're colour blind, I am as well. That is a very green trailer.
I am red/green deficient and the start of the trailer was definitely very green to me.

Well, you could argue that the green hues help create a sick looking image, helping to create a tense, cold atmosphere. Which would be apt for many of his films.

As for why people criticise Michael Bay for his orange and teal schemes, or Abrams for his lens flare, I personally find Bay's overuse of orange and teal, and high contrasts, almost painful at times, and far more distracting than the filters some other directors (includign Fincher) are prone to use. But it could be that his films are just a mess in general, and the orange and teal thing has just become symbolic of everything shite about his excruciating movies.

Also, orange and teal is a very obvious colour scheme. It works, but it's so widely used it's a rather lazy choice.

I don't actually have a problem with Abrams lens flare.

The problem with orange/teal is people going back and regrading older films to give them a 'modern' look. That's reaaallly offensive.

Sure - look at what Fox did recently with their master of Phantom of the Paradise, or what Cronenberg has insisted Criterion do with Scanners...

The green is a look that's been used for a long time in photography by cross processing - that is developing a film using the process meant for a different film.

Just saw the latest trailer for his upcoming film. Jam packed with green tinted scenes. Why? Is he colour blind?
Because all of his films take place in rotting and putrefied world.

Speed Racer seems to have a nice balance between realistic and acid trip.

Orange and green lights add a very 'full' brownish palette to everything - I believe it was Caro and/or Jeunet that used it for most of their movies.

He does use it a lot. It could be argued that it isn't appropriate for some scenes. Compare him to someone like Peter Weir and he comes out looking very monotone.

I just had a MASSIVE BREAKTHROUGH!

Obviously their attempts at colour correction can only do so much for all that green light bouncing around the set.

It's mental when you see how obsessive Fincher is and how much seemingly pointless stuff gets tweaked with CG.
