Registered 18 years agoI dug mine out the other day for the first time in months to remote play Rayman Legends. Remote play is still wobbly as ever, but when it works well it reminds me why I loved the Vita. -

It was pretty much the reason I bought a PS4, but I never got much use out of it in the end. I think it was mainly the controls I couldn't get on with, using the rear touch panel as a trigger just felt off.

The dream is a good streaming solution to a mobile device, and a great controller to go with it. The Razer Kishi could be it... -

Registered 17 years agoI dug mine out a couple of weeks ago too, and forgotten just how lovely a device it is (mainly due to the OLED screen). It's also far more comfortable to use than any of the PSP models I have, so I've mostly been using it to play Gran Turismo. At some stage I'll hack it to put all my PSP games on there.
Edit: Also, all the fanfare over P4G releasing on Steam has made me wonder if I should finally try it. Bought it on sale years ago and never touched it.

Registered 9 years ago@Kay wish they'd released a Gran Turismo for the Vita. Couldn't get into P4G personally. -

Registered 17 years agoYeah, it could have been a genuine system seller. But I guess considering how long it took PD to make the PSP version, I guess it wasn't viable.
I'm quite surprised at how much time I've put into the PSP version tbh. Never played GT before and this one is painfully thin on actual content, but still compelling as the handling model is so good. Just a shame they didn't bother to put a proper SP mode in there.

Yeah, GT PSP plays brilliantly and looks decent considering the hardware. But sadly there's very little 'game' there

Registered 17 years agoTotally out of the loop on all this - what's the current state of Vita home brew / CFW etc? Is it easy to do? Is it even worth it? What can it run?
I'm asking because my Vita has sat on the shelf since the Switch came out, but I'd love to pick it up again. I remember when installing CFW on my PSP opened up a whole bunch of Playstation 1 games that took me right back to my wasted youth. Was kind of a revelation. -

Registered 17 years ago@el_pollo_diablo yep, I did it a few months back (after my earlier post) and it's incredibly easy to do. Well, at least it is if you're on a Windows computer - on a Mac I spent hours following various instructions to package the correct files, but just couldn't get it working. Eventually I installed Windows and just did it on there (it's literally just a case of connecting your Vita, downloading the home-brew file and then running it).
Tbh all I did was put all my PSP games on there, but you can also change the clock speed for various Vita games (improving the frame-rate), as well as the usual running emulators, game backups etc. Since it's so easy you might as well do it. -

Registered 14 years agoHold on, you mean I can play Outrun C2C at a decent frame rate on my Vita? ok I'm now very interested. -

Registered 17 years agoTbf you can do that on the PSP as well. But it does look nice on the Vita OLED screen. -

Registered 17 years ago@atomicjuicer yep. Pretty much any software issue/restriction can be eradicated on cfw. -

Registered 13 years agoPossibly my favourite console. Just love the little thing. Doubt it will ever happen, but would love another. You never know, maybe the switch may make them rethink abandoning the handheld market. -

Registered 13 years agoI sold mine, but really regret it.
It was a lovely bit of kit. Once i binned ps+ it wasn't so handy, but I do wish I'd held on to it. Not sure it would get much use, but I could have found space in a cupboard i'm sure! -

Registered 5 years agoP4G is on Steam now, and emulated well and so on and so forth, but there's some unknown element that means I can't really play it on anything but the Vita. -

Registered 9 years agoEasily the best handheld I've ever owned (I play the Switch docked 90% of the time), still use it. Saw P4G on sale on Steam just now and was gonna grab it but then figured if I'm gonna play it a tenth time, Vita is the only way I want to play it. -

Registered 13 years agoVita deserved so much more success than it achieved, I’m still stunned at how awesome games look on that OLED screen, and it remains home to the platinum trophy I have (Golden Abyss). Has my favourite Killzone entry too. Amazing machine. -

Registered 18 years agoEven the LCD one has an excellent screen. Bluetooth audio too. With the size the second version is an exceptional machine to travel with. And yeah, lots of Japan only stuff stranded on it like Soul Sacrifice and Freedom Wars and the Evolution versions of the first five (!!) Trails games and the best Project Diva games and the only real attempt at a home version of DJ Max Technika and Oreshika and those two Tales R games and so on and so on. For all that people are getting excited about Sting porting their old games to Switch and such, I'd much rather them do an all-ages dungeon crawler as the synergies in the jobs in Dungeon Travelers need to be experienced by DRPG people who maybe can't accept... that artwork. -
So. Many. Awesome. Games.
If you like the kind of games that are in it. I love it so much.
