Registered 15 years agoJust got a match and it played fine. So I dunno what's going on. Tourneys work mostly ok for me, so it's just ranked and player matches just like everyone else pre-patch.
Does anyone know what they actually patched? Because I can see they've removed the ability to search for ranked matches, forcing you into practice warm-up. Which isn't helping my patience as that takes forever to find a match. -

Registered 13 years agoI assumed it was just that. My guess was that before the patch, by the time you'd pressed X to start a match with someone on the list, so had 1,000 other people and they had already accepted a match with someone else. -

I just got another match, so I'm thinking it might indeed be that. -

Registered 14 years agoPlaying on PC, I still get some games not connect, but on the whole that's probably only about 10% of the time. Nothing too tragic.
So I need to drop Claudio. Muscle memory isn't there yet, and I'm getting spanked like a newborn. I should really just stick to one character, and Miguel makes sense as he's the one I have prior exposure to. Plus Miguels Rage Art is the most damaging in the game, and looks hilariously brutal. -

Registered 11 years agoForget everyone else, Lili is my girl, she has the most awesome moveset ever! Breezed through treasure battle to Grand Master without getting defeated once and kept Dan 3 easily so far in online ranked.
People just can't seem to deal with her sidesteps. And since at this skill level almost noone uses sidesteps (yet) one of her biggest disadvantage (bad tracking) is a none-problem. -

Registered 14 years agoIf people don't know how to break kings grab, especially his fucking complex one where all you need to do is bind 1234 to a single button and mash it... Well, yeah. Low tier. Wouldn't worry about them.

Fighter with Miguel
Brawler with Kuma and Dragunov
Grand Master with Gigas and Shaheen
Serious character apathy though. I keep flitting between. Should learn to stick to one! -

Registered 13 years agoThe thing that pissed me off most is I am very conscious not to spam the same moves over and over because online is full of that crap and I hate when people do that to me, so I try and mix things up as much as I can to keep things a little fresh and not annoy people. Unfortunately yes, King is grab heavy and I do know the throw chains.
I have not bound 1234 to one button. I didn't know that would even do anything worthwhile! Shoulder buttons are each bound to 2 buttons however.

Short version? If it's a left handed throw, break with left punch. Right handed, right punch. Both hands? Both punches.
Get it wrong the first time and you can't break.
Chain throws can be broken but there is a small window for it, so mash the shit out of the break for the timing. -

I can barely recognise that the opponent is grabbing me until the proper throw animation has started and it's too late to tech. No way on this planet will I ever be able to react to whether it's left or right-handed! -

Registered 14 years agoYou have about 14 frames to react once grabbed. I think it's 14. Either way it's 50/50 if you can't tell.
Just don't press kick, or you're fucked. -

Registered 14 years agoIt's quite a long amount of time to be honest for a fighting game. All you need to remember is 1, 2 or 1+2. You'll get the start of the throw animation and you can tell from that if it's same side (1 throw) or side switch (2 throw). May not help with command grabs, but if it's a multi grab just hit 1+2 repeatedly to break. -

Registered 12 years agoBeen keeping playing this since I snatched it on the Steam sale, and I have to say I love it. The Rage Art shenanigans isn't as intrusive as I feared as it's blocked easily and not used that much in real life.
Tekken 5/DR was the last one I played before, and the biggest improvement I believe I feel is that 7 seems much more balanced. 5 was awesome but character balance was just stupid iirc.
However, I have to mention 7's soundtrack. God is it awful. Fucking hell. No hyperbole this time, I've tried to think of worse game soundtracks in the past, but this is genuinely among the worst game soundtracks in my 30 years of gaming. When trying to think of another soundtrack as bad as this, I have to try to recall shitty NES or C64 games.
Fired up the Tekken 5 soundtrack on Youtube, damn that was pretty awesome. Bought that soundtrack on Amazon and will probably play that when playing Tekken 7. -

I picked up the PS4 version in the current PSN sale and it has the option to replace the soundtrack with the soundtrack of any previous one -

Registered 2 months agoThe Jukebox feature is a lifesaver. The old soundtracks are classics (especially the first two games) but oh golly, the fucking sounds of T7 are anything but.
A pity that of the few tracks not featured, my favourite (Yoshimitsu Tekken 2 console version) is among them. -

Having brostep in your game when it was a thing was a terrible idea. But having brostep in your game that saw its console release in 2017? WTF were they thinking??
I mean, if you enjoy being whipped or sat on your face or being pissed in your face... fine, I won't judge.
