Not just Tekken 3, but Ridge Racer Type 4's soundtrack was phenomenal. https://youtu.be/X7qFf6jF5WQ But yeah, the Jukebox feature is PS4 exclusive. So's King's white overalls Tekken 2 look. I tend to play the game with the Tekken Tag soundtrack. https://youtu.be/HK1s6b3voQw |

Registered 3 years agooh also, Keiichi Okabe, the composer of those Tekken and Ridge Racer classics, went independent, and he can most recently be heard in the NieR soundtracks.
So when people started praising him for the NieR games, I've been like bruv, where have you beennnnnn? -

Not just that, but you have the option to mix and match any piece of music to any screen.
So on PS4 you have an option like "play Tekken 5 soundtrack instead"? Damn that sounds awesome
It also gives you three different custom slots, so you can switch between personalised playlists without having to change every track.
I always get caught when there's a new stage released, it comes up in online mode and I'm assaulted by the wub-wub music. -

Registered 8 years agoI would like to play this on Xbox if only the resolution wasn't goddamed awful. I know gameplay is king but 720p even on enhanced consoles takes the piss. -

Yeah. They never updated it. Said it was too much work, so you get the base Xbox version which frankly looks like ass.

Registered 18 years agoDoesn't that run at 60 in 4K on the Series X now? The game itself was a bit of a disaster but still. -

Yes it does. The fact it took a next gen console to get a fighting game to run acceptably is something else. -

Registered 18 years agoIt's the engine, it's kinda what happened with Nioh in that it's super blurry if you want 60 on older systems but nice on the new ones. At least there was a smooth mode, it's not like Dynasty Warriors 9 which you can't even bully through to 60 on a PC (the PS5 seems to lock at 58 or so resulting in insane tearing).
Funnily enough I think Persona 5 Strikers runs on the DOA branch of the Koei Tecmo engine and that was damn near locked 60 in framerate mode on my PS4 Pro. -

Registered 8 years agoBut it's a fighting game. If you're making that kind of game then your first priority is to make your game run at 60fps. End of. -

Registered 3 years agoDead or Alive 6 runs at 1080p 60 on the PS4 Pro, same as Tekken 7 and Soulcalibur VI.
There was a 1080p 60 on Xbox One X (DOA6 still) that held the framerate consistently as well, so it was no worse than the PS version. The 4K mode, which was exclusive to the X, was a bit too ambitious at the time though.
TBF, it is a gorgeous game, if the most boring entry in the series. -

I used to main Bruce in Tekken 5 though which probably proves I'm stupid. -

Registered 6 years agoI know I’ve not played any of the series since Tekken 3 but I am terrible at this game.
Rattled through the storymodes on easy since its mostly just cheesing waves of generic dudes but arcade mode all of a sudden the computer fights back.
Mainly stuck to classic characters so far although I was probably best as Lucky Chloe I’m not sure a dad in his mid-late 30s should be maining her -

Registered 12 years agoYeah got this for the 4 quid last night, and +1 to being fucking terrible at it. I'm most of the way through the campaign, although I'm even struggling in some of the fights on easy. Had my arse handed to me in that Akuma v Heihachi fight a couple of times before button mashing my way through it somehow.
Absolutely no fucking idea what was going on in the story. I got to about chapter 3 before I started cunting the cutscenes off as soon as they started. -

Registered 6 years agoSo many of the newer characters and outfits are super overdesigned (Lars in particular)
My main technique is to use faster characters to just try and press the advantage by spamming simple combos before the computer can get its offence started.
The worst fight in the campaign for me is the bonus chapter where you fight Akuma again and he just keeps using a shadow dodge type move and blocks everything. Impossible.
The story is ridiculous even for a fighting game.
Also, is Akuma meant to be the same Akuma from Street Fighter or is he now an identical looking original character in the Tekken universe? -

Registered 15 years agoYes. I mean think he was supposed to be a essentially a prototype for a tekken x street fighter but street fighter x tekken. The idea was for one set of chars to visit one game and then they return the favour.
Capcom managed to fuck it up in every possible way, Bandai bailed. -

Registered 6 years agoAh ok, he was weirdly super prominent for bonus 3rd party character. This explains it.
Its a shame all the dlc characters cost more than I paid for the game itself. I’d quite like some more familiar faces and the completionist in me doesn’t like seeing those vacant spots on the character select but there’s no way I’d get value for money paying that much for multiple season passes featuring maybe 2 characters per pack. -

Registered 15 years agoIf it’s the first one you’ve played or the first one you’ve played in a while, I would try and learn Paul. He’s one of the most basic characters but is, unusually for a beginner character, really good. -
But that fucking hair though. And he's called Paul.
