I played it at EGX, and even what was presumably a rough build being 12 months out, it ticked all the boxes.

Only thing that stuck out was the resolution seemed a bit low (I want to say about 900p on PS4). Solid 60fps though and of course, being so far out from launch it was probably just a matter of priorities. Really hoping for native 1080p, the rough appearance of Tekken 6 was one of the many reasons I just stuck with 5.

The only way I can see it being a dud is if they screw up the single player component again. That's the primary reason I wouldn't mind seeing a review as soon as.

Has Anna Williams been revealed yet? Two days short from release date and nothing has been said about her being playable in this one.

Reviews are starting to drop and look positive. Only real complaint I've seen is the SP content isn't that much more fleshed out than SFV

There's arcade mode (6 AI fights, no proper endings), story mode(pretty much the same as SFVs), and treasure hunt which is endless arcade mode but you unlock customisation stuff as you go). Not seen any other stuff reported in reviews?

I fired up Tekken 6 last night to get hype. Jesus Christ, I forgot how bad the single player mode was in that game. I don't know why they bothered, I'd have actually been happier with a classic 10 rounds then ending setup.

Is this the new ghost mode?

Quite disappointed. Anna along with Nina were by far my favorite team in TT2. Went through 250 matches with them losing only 16 times (to very good players). Hope we get her via dlc.

The fact there's Arcade mode and Treasure Battle already puts it above SFV.

The equivalents in that game were Character Stories and Survival, with the former barely counting as 'content' and the latter a frustrating shitshow barely anyone played for fun. The complaints about SFV wasn't necessarily it's numerative lack of modes, but it's dearth of worthwhile distractions for the single player. It had modes, they were just shit. T7 isn't a leap for number of modes, but those modes look far more fun.

Saying that, I'm getting a little tired of Japanese fighting game devs (bar ASW) continuing to ignore what NRS are doing with their single player content. Namco have had two years to port the arcade version to consoles and add content, yet we get nothing comparable to either IJ2's modes or even MK9.

So are the cg endings in or out? I used to enjoy collecting them all.

@SomaticSense While I agree that Netherealm nail single player in their games I don't really think it would work for Tekken. The average player isn't going to cope well with switching characters every third fight, there's too much variance.

I've only really seen the menu layout for story mode in T7, but it looks like they've divvied it up into chapters with it being clear who you're going to be playing as, allowing you to brush up beforehand. Seems smart to me.

Although yeah have to agree about the supplemental modes.

I apologise beforehand for quoting myself:

What a difference a day makes - 900p is now all but confirmed. Or at least, there's definitely something non-native and aliasy going on. What we still don't know is what the Pro brings to the table.

I'm not optimistic about the Xbox version.

Box says nothing about pro support judging from a reddit post. I would imagine there is though as there is a pc version.

Isn't Pro support mandatory at this point?

I'm sure something launched recently with no Pro support at all, but I forget what it was. Prey maybe?

Worse than that. It said it had pro enabled features but the pro version had no discernable difference

Harada has stated a ‘noticeable difference in graphical quality’ for the Pro but that's all.
Just seen that. Got to be resolution shirley?

Why is it that while other sites are doing proper write ups for this the front page has some piece about how shit the VR implementation is?

@JiveHound waiting on the servers for online to be hammered by the public. They're pretty much flawless at the moment according to reports but so few people on no idea how they'll react to a million or so people over the next week.

I thought the exact same thing. We all know it's a tacked on feature. Namco know they tacked it on. Namco knows that we know they tacked it on. It's not worth constantly going on about it at the expense of normal coverage.

I'm glad it wasn't just me then. I've known next to nothing about Tekken 7, I can't think of a single other piece or preview on EG. I could be wrong of course but it seems a rather strange decision to focus on a bolt on bespoke to not just one platform but of a subplatfrom instead of telling us what is different about this iteration.

As long as King is in it they can do whatever else they like as far as I'm concerned.

    @BigOrkWaaagh

I spent a Godawful amount of time learning King's multi-link throw combos in Tekken 2 many moons ago. I wasn't any good at the game, i just loved his throws.
