I'm sure some of you are pretty handy when it comes to phones and the sort, so I'm hoping someone will be able to help me, since I really do know nothing about these things.

I got a Sony-Ericsson K700i for my birthday, and put my old T-mobile sim in.

Some knowledge of the K700i may be required from this point.

I can't seem to get the whole internet aspect of it to work.
I've read through the manual, and downloaded the required settings that should get me going from the Sonyericson website.

From what I've been told I should be able to get on to the WAP thingy from here by going in to the main menu and scrolling up to 'Internet services'. Once in there I see a menu with...

    Search
    Pic Gallery
    Vid Gallery
    Settings

But when I click on any of these I see a little sandglass symbol for a milisecond, and then nothing.

I then went to the T-Mobile website and got the WAP settings I apparently needed from there instead of the Sonyericson site, but the same thing happened again.

I've checked with a friend with the same phone (but on Orange rather than T-mobile) and she said that her phone gets online no problem when she does the same thing as me. When she goes in to Connection Settings hers is set up the same as mine.

What could be wrong? Am I missing something incredibly simple? Help!

    Danke very much.

I don't know the K700i, but you should at least be able to get to the settings so you can define an access point and whatever. But then downloading the settings should have set that up for you.

I can only guess that the phone's configuration has got mucked up which is causing the wap application to crash/freeze. I'd recommend doing a 'master reset' (as they seem to be calling it) then seeing if you can get into the wap settings.

Of course, I'm assuming you haven't added all your contacts in to the phone yet...

Edit: I should clarify that I know absolutely nothing about the K700i, but in the absence of anyone else around who knows, and after five minutes with Google, that's my best guess.

    Argh.

I was thinking about getting one of those bluetooth dongles so I could save all the photos and things I've taken to my HDD. I'll get that done first and then try a reset.

I wonder if I can do the same with all those contact details! ;(

You may well have to phone up customer services for Tmobile and get them to enable the data service on that account.

Looks likely, apparently my sister had to do the same thing.

It didn't really make it clear on the website; is the number just 150 or is it something special?
