9.5 from Jim Sterling. 8 from Gamespot.

"The best David Cage game there never was".

Very positive reviews so far, much better than I expected!

Tempted to wait until Halloween and get a bunch of friends around to play it though......might have a price drop by then too

Wow I'm bloody surprised by some of the glowing reviews for this.. I'll buy it, if I can find it under 40 quid :)

This has been on my radar for awhile now, glad to see all the positive reviews. Look forward to playing it soon.

Gameseek has it for just less than that. I'm trying out Bespoke Offers to see if they can find it cheaper.

This is one for the must look at pile when I eventually do get a PS4.
  • Deleted user 24 August 2015 22:58:38
As much as I keep telling myself that quality wins over quantity when it comes to the length of a game, I just can't bear to pay the current going rate for this... Heavy Rain was a rental, Beyond was a "wait until it drops to less than £15" and this will probably end up being one of those...
  • Deleted user 24 August 2015 23:15:45
This has nothing to do with David Cage.
  • Deleted user 24 August 2015 23:21:14
It has everything to do with being a 6 hour game that I'll play through once and probably never touch again, though...

Isn't the whole point that it's supposed to be played then replayed many times to see the many outcomes of your choices?

As stated above, it's made to play over an a few times. Plus, I don't know about you, but I'd rather have a 6 hour fun experience than 20-30 hour of utter dross.

Shame they've decided to release it next to MGSV which is arguably the biggest game of this generation, Halloween would have been better.

Bummer there's no nudity in the game which all the great slasher movies have.
  • Deleted user 24 August 2015 23:48:33
I never bothered replaying any of the above mentioned games to see different outcomes, so I doubt I'll go back to this after the end credits have rolled. Not saying it's bad value for everybody, but for me specifically I just find it hard to justify splashing out £40...

    Rent it?
  • Deleted user 24 August 2015 23:51:37
    Again, it's not the same.

This isn't a typical A to B plot. It follows the butterfly effect and each path takes roughly ten hours.
  • Deleted user 25 August 2015 00:04:50
More like 8 hours according to the Kotaku review ;)

Ignore me anyway, I'm drunk... I'll end up buying it as soon as I'm done with MGS

Intrested but think ill wait for this one to drop
  • Deleted user 25 August 2015 00:11:58
Be careful saying that around these parts... I think I've just defused a nasty situation! ;)

Think I might grab this once I'm done with gears and mgs. If mad max is any good though it will have to wait a bit longer. That being said if it's 8-9 hours long I could buy physical, finish it in a week and sell it on.

Haha its a difficult one though, 30 quid for a 10 hour masterpiece or 30 quid for a fifty hour average game. Or wait a few months and you pay 15 quid for either.

Unfrotunatly there are only a few games i have bought as "day one". Bloodborne/souls and alien isolation (love alien) also have a preorder for uncharted collection (xbox convert)

    Otherwise i wait

I'll get it when it's half that price. There's just too much to play at the moment, and I don't have the time. I wouldn't mind buying it, completing it, then selling it, but undoubtedly it'd just languish on my shelf and lose most of its value.

I have a cunning plan, what if I buy it, play it then sell to one of you chaps for £22...worth a thought anyway
Anyone fancy a bit of that ?
    :)

Played this for 2 hours or so last night, and I am a bit undecided.

On the one hand, I throughly enjoyed my time with it, which arguably is the most important thing. Otoh, it is even campier and cheesier than I anticipated, and what really irritates me is, while the game as a whole looks great, how terrible the lip-syncing is (it always looks like it's a split-second off). On top of that, the actors obviously were told to MOVE THEIR MOUTHS AND TALK VERY ARTICULATELY so that the motion capturing would work. In a game that's 80% watching people talk, that's not great. This is much, much deeper in the uncanny valley than a game in 2015 should be.

That said, the atmosphere is great, it feels very polished (lip-syncing aside), the decisions are fun, and I really want to know how the story continues.

(On a sidenote, sorry to bring this up, this makes my PS4 so bloody loud again that the only option is to play with headphones. Not sure if my PS4 got worse or if it's the fact that it's the Killzone engine.)
  • Deleted user 25 August 2015 08:48:05
Is it really that loud? You'd think after the first few batches they'd refine the damn thing.
