Totally! I even considered bailing on post-work drinks in the local beer garden, but may try to hold out until this evening. It's a definite binge watch for me this weekend :)

This is one of those shows which I feel should be great, instead it's... nothing special really.

    IMHO etc

I find its depiction of depression to be all too real, to the point where I can't enjoy it.

    (I really want to!)

@opalw00t Yeah, it definitely cuts a bit close to the bone at times; however, I do think this is why I really enjoy it - almost bizarrely.

Also find both BoJack and Diane really fascinating characters when all the jokes are pulled aside. Very much looking forward to it.

Had no idea the third series was on the horizon, let alone out today! Great stuff :)

Watch the episode where Todd writes a Space Opera.

It is dark, it is hilarious, and you'll never see the twist coming, it's the episode where the show changes into what it is now, as was said above, a very close to home depiction of depression and apathy and self-destruction.

I fucking love this show, it's layered with humour and insight but when the going gets heavy it's not unwilling to drop a fart gag, it's like the bastard love child of Duckman and Curb Your Enthusiasm :D

Come on mate! What would Bojack do?
Tell me you're in the boozer and you're gonna watch Bojack tomorrow nursing a hangover and a cheeky joint if you're that way inclined. 😉

Yeah, the final two episodes in particular really got to me.

Overall, I really enjoyed the third season: I felt there were one or two slight missteps, but it was still interlaced with moments of sheer brilliance and uncomfortable self-reflection (and comedy!).

I enjoyed the really long setup for the spaghetti accident. Mr Peanutbutter owning the strainers was the only thing I was waiting to be used in a joke but so many story arcs fed into it.

The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense like watching Bojack Horseman, and eventually, you'll be dead.

So, binged the entirety of S4 last night. Absolutely loved it: I'd say there are less laughs in general throughout; however, this is coupled with a bit more thematic levity than the previous season, which got very dark - it's still pretty dark, ofc!.

Perhaps less stand-out episodes overall, but still at least two utterly fantastic ones. The penultimate episode in particular is one of the most interesting takes on dementia that I've seen, which once again demonstrates the show's wonderful ability to treat strong (and often painful) subject matter in new and interesting ways whilst punctuating it with humour and relevant cultural/social commentary.

Also plenty to enjoy in there if you like caustic criticisms of the current American political landscape :)

Just working my way through this now - the Princess Caroline episode with the framing device of her great great (great?) granddaughter was super dark, and I suspect worse is to come.

It's a slow burner of a show, but I think it's getting better and better as it goes - less overt comedy, more narrative driven with occasional laughs.

I loved this season, shame about all those mass shootings getting in the way of film production, #ThoughtsAndPrayers of course. PB's house dropping into a hole made me laugh more than it probably should have.

I liked the slightly darker direction of this series. The dementia parts and BoJack's inner thoughts "stupid piece of shit" stood out to me.

It got me rewatching the earlier ones. I'm probably the last person to realise but Vincent Adultman was voiced by Alison Brie (spoiler tags in case you want to guess).

Yeah, that one ep was pretty dark. Ended on a lighter note though.

Final season finished up over the weekend. Emotional, bittersweet, just absolutely fucking perfect.

It's the pinnacle of animated comedy/drama for me. Glad it finished when it did; but, fuck me, I'll miss it. Just utterly exemplary in terms of its humour, thematic strands, character development and narrative structure.
