Yeah, Three are solid. Good coverage, great data performance. They might be buying O2 soon, btw, so your options for actual network operators will be Three, BT and Vodafone. |

Registered 14 years agoI might need to look at Three as they claim to have coverage for my house, but then again so does every other network. I live in a medium size town, not too far from the centre, so in theory I should get a pretty good signal but I don't. I used to have a Vodafone work phone which only got a signal upstairs. Orange/TMobile was even worse. O2 was fine but lately it drops calls about 3 or 4 times every hour. It used to be fine. They must be screwing around with something to prepare for 4G.
Imagine having to use a land line in 2015 when you live about half a mile from various transmitters. -

Registered 15 years agoI'm with Virgin £16.50 unlimited data, txt & calls -
Just been looking into sim only as my contract is nearly up and there isn't a phone on the market I think it's worth a new one so looking to keep my Note 3.
They've got expensive haven't they or am i missing something?
Last time i looked I'm sure three had an AYCE one for £15. Its £23 now for the base with 200 mins
Gifgafs comparable version is the £20 goodybag. -

Registered 20 years agoThree are the only operator that gives me 3G coverage here. I don't have a contract with them though, I'm a dirty payg'er. -

Registered 15 years agoI'm still on £12/month with 3 for 2 gig of data, blimey, that is expensive.
There are (and have been for a while) some deals with Virgin if you use any of their other services. BT have started doing the same, though in a shit, disappointing one or two pound off way unsurprisingly for them. -
Signed up with 3 for 4GB data, 600 mins and unlimited texts for £13 a couple of weeks ago... Not the best deal ever, but their roaming and 4G make it worthwhile...
Just give them a call and ask for a PAC code and they'll probably at least match that package for your £12
Couldn't be fucked with AYCE data, as I rarely used more than 1GB beforehand as I'm usually at home or at work and connected to wifi

Registered 16 years agoI suppose more folks are going sim only now that phones are already more than powerful enough so the prices are going to be bumped up, that's what I jjust did when my contract expired. 4GB per month for 20 quid or something like that. Much better than the £70-80 I was paying every month, and I was happy to stick with this 5S for the foreseeable future.
Obviously I cancelled the £15 insurance policy that I've paid for the last 6 years and never claimed on, and obviously my screen smashed a month later. -

Registered 16 years agoI've been on sim-only since 2012, across a number of operators:
- Giffgaff: super-cheap but poor speed 3G and the network kept going down randomly. Would rather pay more than to put up with a shit, intermittent service
- Vodafone: was really good until they started doing the changeover to 4G and I had no 3G in my area for nearly a year
- Virgin: decent price (even though I'm not a customer of their other products), 3G only (no 4G) which isn't too bad for me because I'm usually on Wifi. Recently added free 0845 and 0870 (I think) calls, which can be handy at times.
Sim-only prices have been rising steadily over the last few years, unfortunately. I'm tempted by BT's deals as I'm a broadband customer so will get £5 off, but I'm not keen on a 12 month contact (all my sim-only deals have been monthly ones because I can just move onto another quickly if the service messes up).
One final note...it seems that in the past where you signed up to one of these, the price remained the same until you left, all of the providers have now stuck in the small print that prices may rise at any time (which means a yearly increase). Ugh. -

I ordered a nano-sim card with them and it came with free £10 credit - didn't have to top up initially or anything. Quite the surprise, they don't even mention it on site. But this was a while ago and for a nano-sim. Unsure if still active and for non-nano-sims. -

Registered 15 years agoI need to kook at this soon as I have a 12 month pay monthly SIM contract running out soon which is a bit crappy for the price. I am paying about 16 quid for unlimited text and calls but only 1GB data. I barely use the calls and could probably get away with less than 500 SMS easily. I have gone over the 1GB occasionally but usually stay under although I suppose I would easily 'use' more data if I had it.
Looked around and seen a few companies I wasn't aware of like the Peoples Operator, Life and iD. The latter two seem pretty cheap (and piggyback EE and 3 respectively) but do you get considerably worse service or the same as an actual EE or 3 customer?
Currently with O2 and signal is often poorer than I would like (in the city centre) -
Best thing I did when my contract ran out was look at sim only deals and tell my provider I was going to the opposition as they were cheaper and better. They offered a deal, but I said "no thanks". Couple of days later I got the call I'd been waiting for which was the peopel who can make the really good deals.
I ended up with 7GB data, unlimited text and calls for £12 months, with no contract on 4G. -

Registered 20 years agoThree's pricing goes up and down - before Christmas the 200/AYCE was £18, the same price I'd paid the year before. If you are seeing £23,it might be because they are between sales periods. -
Just had a pleasant call to 3, keyed up after dealing with BT earlier in the week- my contract ends in a few days and I, probably a bit snarkily, said I'd like double the data or I'll leave, please.
Expecting them to squirm and tell me how deals are for new customers only etc, but, no, I was on 2Gb data, 600 minutes and 200 texts for £11/month, offered me 4Gb data and unlimited calls/texts for £14/month straight away. It's about £21 currently via their online shop.
That's how you do it BT, I'll stick with them and feel all snugly about them now as opposed to vowing to never use you again as long as I live you motherfucking cunt fuckers.
