Sank a 43 feet putt that swung right and left last night, was well chuffed, then I got a trophy for it as well :)

I am liking Serious Mode! Much better challenge.

Yeah I'd say go serious mode. I am a very average player and serious mode is still very beatable.

Have to say, despite my gripes about the extraneous fluff in this game, the core golfing action remains great fun. Sunk my first official chip in eagle last night and the buzz for pulling that sort of shot is so good.

Anyone seen a really decent online guide? There's a lot of menu options and stats that I've no idea what they are.

@myiagros I'm now a fair bit over 50% but to start with I was around the same as you. A friend advised me to check if my tv was on game mode, which it wasn't. My TV had been updated and there was new set of modes for HDR, the tv detected the hdr signal and chose a different mode.

I switched hdr off, game mode back on and ended up wayyyyy more accurate with impacts. The tv had been introducing processing lag of quite substantial proportions. There's a hdr game mode but I can't be faffed setting it all up right now.

May not be your issue, but might be worth looking at. The difference was so drastic, I had to retrain myself to the new timings once game mode was back on.
Thanks. My TV was already in game mode, but I have turned off a number of the advanced image settings which I think might have helped a little (although it might be purely psychological).

    Upgrading custom clubs.
  • Deleted user 9 September 2017 00:48:40
Are they unlocked (custom clubs) at end game?

Yes when you reach rank 7. You need 100 to max a set. They also wear out so need repaired or recycled.

Are there goodies hidden around the golf courses? There must be a reason why you can just run and drive round the course at will?

@wowami make all the characters on the same profile. They will have the same stats which sucks but there you have it.

Where on the Vita this was a definite "go to" game that I loved to play, EG PS4 has become a "meh, I'm a bit bored with everything else and just want a light game to play before bed" game. Just don't gel with it as much as I thought I would.

Yeah I'm definitely in that camp. It's a disappointment in many respects. By no means a bad game, but just not a patch on previous versions.

The golf itself is generally still pretty fun, but the game structure is grindy and not that compelling

The need to get proper online tournaments on the go. I've reached level 6 and would like to just play tournament like the vita game. The online as it exists just now is pretty poor.
    What's taking them so long?

The special vs characters at level 7 are pissing me off - only one a day, then they stroll about chipping in ridiculous eagles. A bit of a challenge at last, but the single player mode is badly missing the depth of the Vita.

Vita versions = one of my favourite games. I must have spent 100 hours on that.

This version = a bit of a chore. Having to grind the same course 7 times to progress means I am on the verge of selling it when only level 4.

Wowsers. Kind of glad I didn't buy this and renew my ps+ now.

Gutted, loved the vita game too.

@PrivateFloyd the golf itself is really good, however I did find it a lonely and not a very challenging experience.

I'm still playing it a lot. They sorted out some of the network issues in the last patch so the open courses are always quite populated now, and it's good fun trying to climb the daily rival leaderboards.

Wish they'd add a friends leaderboard and proper tournaments but there's plenty to keep me busy in the mean time.

I must have a bug or something for the VS battles as I've never lost one. I'm no bad at holding up my end, but even in Rank 7 battles the AI plays non-stop clangers/get EG shot penalties.

I've asked before but nobody seems to know the answer. What is the point of making the golf courses free roam? Can you wander off and find things? Seems completely pointless
  • Deleted user 24 September 2017 11:07:32
I love the series and have enjoyed the ps4 version a bit but nowhere near as much as the other versions. It just doesn't grab me like the vita version did. I agree the SP is a chore and even online doesn't really do it for me.

@markytonline83 when your online you can find coins, balls and gems when you roam about the courses.

They also have fishing spots which is more interesting than I thought it would be :)
