I listened to your latest podcast last night by the way. Quite amusing in places, vaguely interesting (though it probably doesn't help that I've never seen the film), and mercifully short at 15 minutes!

Thanks for giving it a go. We're still tinkering with the format a bit, so things will keep on improving.

    EDIT

It will always be short, though. We did one show that lasted 30 minutes - had to review a mini-series - and it felt really long. A lesson for next time.

Your podcast is already a lot better than others I've listened to after less than a dozen episodes. Now that's damning you with faint praise to a certain degree, as a lot of them are pretty fucking amateurish to begin with, but it means you're on the right lines :)

Really, you saw this years ago. Bit tenuous as it's always on telly somewhere.

I think it's meant to be the kind of thing someone would say as they were browsing films to watch with a mate.

'You saw this years ago. It's on always on telly somewhere.' sounds like a line from an Alan Bennett play.

    The....Ice. Is...Gonna. Break!

Walken at his best - with The Deer Hunter. Great movie.

"Bless me"? Do you know what God did for me? He threw an 18-wheeled truck at me and bounced me into nowhere for five years! When I woke up, my girl was gone, my job was gone, my legs are just about useless... Blessed me? God's been a real sport to me!"

Really good film and Walken on top form.

@Retro-Fit I don't think I've seen the Deer Hunter. Or if I have it, it was long enough ago not to remember. And because it's so popular, so beloved, I'm not sure I could watch it as part of the show.

@b0rk Yes, it is good. But it's kind of a shame that we're watching it through the prism of Walken-ess of the man now instead of seeing it with fresh eyes. I wonder if he would have been less of a .. Not a stereotype, but less of an icon back then.

I love The Dead Zone. I genuinely think it's the best King adaptation.

At school I remember classmates talking about Pet Cemetary in hushed tones, saying it was banned or too scary to watch or really sick etc.

I should probably watch that one day, too.

She must have been getting it on with the Director.

Not so long ago I checked out Lifeforce on Dvd. While the naked chick remains timeless, eveything else about the film looks pretty bad.

Good call. Terrible film, but a remarkable looking woman. I think I watched that with Martyn Darkly from the podcast as it happened. We were both bewitched by her beaooty.

I'm pretty sure the lead actor felt fucked afterwards. From the Warriors to that.
