I've got some bluetooth headphones and fuck me are they fiddly to get the rubber nub out (fnarr) to charge. So something like that every night would be a dealbreaker.

Ah right, I see. That makes far more sense. Impressed the voice tech works that well though! My experience with it has never been good enough to rely on it for stuff like that.

Being able to reliably send texts/emails whilst driving is nice, I like that. Also for controlling music/phoning people whilst driving would be good.

@kalel daringfireball hints at there being a Withings style bog standard watch with hidden fancy bits in the works. He also linked to the works of some watch designer Apple has hired.

I though those watches were ugly as sin though and not Apple (Dieter Rams) like in any way so I'm not sure why he was hired.

For me the "New shiny thing from Apple" is more exciting than what the actual new shiny will turn out to be. If that makes any sens.

They should make the screen image stable despite the wrist being used in a vigorous manner.

For those of us cursed with having to use both hands at once

I'm really not a fan of those thin, circular watches. They look like they should tell the time simultaneously in Monte Carlo, Beverly Hills, London, Paris, Rome, and Gstaad
  • Deleted user 8 September 2014 12:58:14
I would be surprised if it's as "watch-like" as that.

@DiddlerDo That's exactly how I feel. Sadly, SONY tried that approach and failed.

It's as if everyone is tired of the fitness abnds or feel that the fitness bands aren't for them but if there was a screen zapping the battery life... THEN it would be ok.

    And I think that's a dead end.

Then again. I'm not a power user. I'm not hooked in and there is neither Lyft nor All the chefs (or whatever) where I live.

    @CosmicFuzz yeah, it works well.

You do have to augment it with apps though, the mini launcher (to easily access apps, without loads of scrolling or chatting to your wrist), and the phone dialler are essential.

It will need to be unisex so it won't be too big and chunky.

Are they really going to do this? I do like my Apple products but I'd never wear an iWatch or whatever they call it.

Why would anyone with an iPhone want one? Just look at the time on that if you don't already have a watch.

The iWatch and Galaxy Gear are the most pointless things ever invented.

I think that you have somewhat missed the point

    Hah.

If they came up with something you could wear easily when working out I'd probably spring for it.

I hate having to have my phone with me (on one of those horrible arm straps which are never comfortable) when mapping runs etc.

Ha! Smash them all with big fucking hammers!

They'll probably cost as much as a decent Tag Heuer.

You don't know how much a Tag is do you.

My current watch tells me time and date. Except when it's a quarter past. Then it only tells time.

Yet I've found that it's really convenient to have a wrist watch as opposed to getting my phone out. Especially when riding my bike.

Must be getting old. I don't want this or any other "smart watch".

Just bought a TAG. Much more classy.

Still, price speculation is always good fun.

    I'm going 350.

I like Tags, but representative of "class" they are not.

I think 299 but I would be surprised at anything as high as 400

I'm going to Turkey in a few weeks to buy a Tag Hoor and maybe a Philip Patel or an Omegre

Not class as in working class, middle class etc. Class as in style.

A classically styled watch is the choice of the discerning gentleman :-)

I'd quite like a smart watch but don't think I want an apple one.

Functionally it will probably be the best, but who wants to wear a watch that looks the same as everyone else's watch?

Ok, that was a bit of an exaggeration. A lot, in fact. Im sure Apple will release different spec models, with the top end ones going for 500-600.
