Tempted to play through this again so I'll hold fire until we get some PS5 upgrades.

Loved this, once you meet a specific character the story really kicks off.

Iíve never played this and keep seeing it pop up for under a tenner for the complete Edition, does it get a big thumbs up? Iíve got a ps5, has it been optimised at all for it yet?

Has anyone actually played the PC version? Was a buggy mess at launch I recall.

PC version isn't very well optimised, so you need a decent system to throw at it. There's a few issues running at higher frame rates, corpses flying into space or voice de-syncing type things, nothing game breaking.

Where have you seen that offer mate? I quite fancy a replay, especially if frozen wilds is included

Havenít seen any huge issues at 120fps here, though have seen some weird glitches in super ultra wide (5120x1440 or whatever the correct numbers are). Things at the sides canít quite decide if they should be rendered yet or not.

PC glitches were in first couple of weeks, so they may have been sorted by now.

I'm about 20 hours into this now and it's just not clicking.

Just finishing the Revenge of the Nora mission (with the big cache of Blaze in the stadium), and so far the gameplay feels like a mix of RDR2 and Shadow of Mordor, but nothing like as entertaining as the latter.

As a former palaeontologist I though the dinos would suck me in, but they're turning out to be a chore I avoid. They sometimes feel like they're little more than irritations plonked on top of important routes. Oddly I usually hate stealth, but it's the only aspect of combat I'm finding satisfying right now. I've beaten a cauldron and even that was a generic layout of corridor-corridor-big final room pop-pop-bang-bang.

The Uncharted approach to navigating the landscape is irritating as always, plus I find the healing and ammo crafting systems totally 4th wall breaking (albeit very handy in the middle of a firefight). And the NPC behaviour and conversations are weird and often totally out of context with events. Oh, and inventory management - yay, everyone's favourite mini-game!

Graphically beautiful of course, but... what am I missing?

I dunno. I found firing sparkly arrows at giant robodinos pretty fun.

You aren't missing anything. Take away the beautiful environments and intriguing premise and you have an average open world game in nearly every area.

I had to drag myself to the end just for the sake of the story. I never quite saw what everyone else saw in the game. Cauldrons were a chore (yay letís spend hours in a vast open playground and then gate progress with encounters in tunnels and tight spaces), characters were zero dimensional, and the combat didnít click for me until waaaay too late in the day.

Worth persevering with for the story reveals, and in the hope that the combat draws you in, though. It really is very pretty.

It was a weird one for me. It felt like an easy 6-7 out of 10 for me for the first 18 hours or so, then it all sort of fell into place and jumped up to a personal 10/10. The game itself didn't really change and none of the weapons/skills fundamentally changed how it played, but I started to really love it. I'd go out of my way to start trouble with very big machines, just for fun.

I can totally get why some people bounced off it though, because I did too.

Is the PC version of this any less of a shitshow yet? Been tempted to try it, but the issues at launch looked pretty horrible.

Glad it's not just me then! Only done about 10 hours but just not feeling it. It should be fun but it's all so by-the-numbers. It looks amazing, though.

It does seem, a bit like days gone, to be very marmite. I absolutely loved it but, yeah, by 20hrs youíve seen everything the game has to offer bar the end of the story, so nothing is coming to hook you in.

I thought it was one of the best story open worlds Iíve played. The reaction to thereís literally nothing left to do in the open world after the story is great imo. Why bother padding out unnecessary fluff for the sake of playing another 30 hours?

Itís the fantastic story that elevates it to a very high level, I was engrossed , trying to uncover what the hell happened.

I thought the plot took a little longer to start truly revealing itself... Of course, that depends on how much you charge through it or how much you spend on all the side quests. 😊
And combat changed for me as the variety of weapons increased and some of the bigger monsters appeared.
I finished the DLC last night and had already got the platinum trophy.
