She would need a film career for that.

One of those articles that brings out the hypocrites on my FB feed; either posting 'this is why women have body image issues" one minute to "OMG have you seen what Renee has done to her face??" the next.
    Certainly does seem to :(

The next Bridget Jones film is supposed to be coming out next year, but the scripts been changed to aliens abducting and replacing humans for some reason.

    Maybe she just got old?

So depressing the way this 'story' has been reported, implying both that women shouldn't age and that they shouldn't do anything to reverse the ageing process.

I wasn't aware getting old could make it look like you've morphed into a totally different person.

That's quite a natural looking face lift. No trout pout or staple marks.

It's nothing to do with ageing and everything to do with plastic surgeons making it look as if you've been abducted by aliens and had your head replaced.

Must admit it looks like good work, a real shame she felt it was necessary.

Looks good! But the facelifts they have in Korea are more impressive in terms of how much they change.

If she did have plastic surgery, surely the main reason for doing so would be ageing?

Women celebrities really can't win once they get over 40 or so. The gossip rags go on about how many wrinkles they have, so they might feel pressured into getting plastic surgery. But if they do that, then those same rags will focus on how different/horrible they look after the procedure.

    @fentsy; Not always.

And this is the problem I have here. That woman (who is supposed to be Renee Zellweger and now looks nothing like her) looks sad. Her eyes have that sort of lost dullness about them. She is hurting in a deep place, and perhaps maybe it's a result of the surgery; but it might easily have been there beforehand, and she felt surgery would help.

It's a plastic surgeon's job firstly to genuinely find out if (a) there's a medical need or a career advantage - in both cases here I'm going to say "no" - or (b) if there's a deeper psychological pain that surgery isn't going to take away. Renee's eyes suggest to me (b) was likely the main reason. She's hurting for whatever reason - maybe age, maybe something else. But an issue that surgery cannot cure.

And if there's pain on the inside, this new face won't fix it. She'll look in the mirror, see a stranger and feel worse. That's the problem with not fixing the inside before the outside; the demons don't disappear through the surgery. They'll always be there waiting for the Propofol to wear off.

Basically, this woman needs time out of the limelight and with a damned good therapist. There's something gnawing at her, and when she fixes that, then she can consider reclaiming some of her identity that has been so cruelly robbed from her here.

It's a travesty, but I think in some cases we need far more stringent rules; and some people very simply need to learn to use the word "NO". No, Ms. Zellweger. You don't need surgery. Have you considered using the money you'd spend on this and hire a therapist to tackle what is bothering you?

I think in some walks of life, rational thinking has just disappeared. The terrifying thing is here, that's in a plastic surgery clinic where people are having work done which may be wholly unnecessary and perhaps even inappropriate. As long as you got the money, let's do it right?

What's the worst that can happen...

@Mola_Ram It's once they reach that age that they look their best, the ones that don't go the surgery route that is. When they're a lot younger they tend to look like broomsticks, which is unfortunate.

I once looked deep into LeoliansBro's eyes and decided that what he really needed was a good hug. And a Dirty Martini.

I'm with you, Kami. Eye-doctering. It's the future.

It's not a great piece of surgery but it definitely still looks like her. Not a particularly noteworthy alteration.

She's always been an odd looking woman to my eyes and I would easily still pick that out as her.

Bit of a non story imo
