Registered 15 years ago2016 looks fantastic!
Surprised that Spider-Man 3 is 2018, quite a wait between 2 and 3. Sony really don't know what they're doing with that franchise anymore. So much last minute chopping/changing with scripts and editing, total mess.
Also surprised there's not a definite Batman or Superman film planned. Wonder what the Untitled Marvel films are. Black Panter, maybe? Ant Man 2 if it does well? Black Widow? Also no Thor 3, so guessing one of them will be filled with that. -

Registered 17 years agoAvengers 3 and Iron Man 4 will probably be some of those unknowns. There are rumours that Marvel are working up to Civil War, and some talk of Sony letting Marvel use Spider-man again. Black Widow and another Hulk are possibilities too.
DC will probably wait to see how Batman vs Superman does before committing to more Batman and Superman entries. And they're trying Green Lantern again?
Don't hold much hope for Sandman. That really should have been a TV series.
Didn't know there was an X-Force movie planned. Interesting. Deadpool might be a blast too.

Jesus. After spending most of my childhood wishing there were more big budget superhero movies I am well and truly being punished for it. -

Registered 15 years agoI really looking forward to Deadpool. Apparently the original script (if they're still using it) had references to his terrible appearance at the end of X-Men Origins. -

Registered 16 years agoI would be surprised if half of those happened, especially the Spider-Man ones. -
Against my better judgement I'm looking forward to the new Hellblazer Tv series. -

It definitely is getting bigger and bigger to the point where you wonder how it can last, but at the end of the day it's only a handful of films a year. Out of all the other releases that'll be coming out, it's not like you'd be missing out on much cinema if you ignored them.

Rumours that Venom has already been canned. Which whilst the current comic Venom is interesting, is probably for the best. Wouldn't be surprised to see Sinister Six get kicked out too.

Which would be shit, because Spidey 2 was essentially set up for it, and all the worst because of it. -

That's true, but I think the genre itself is becoming standardised and formulaic. So, while we're going to now have lots and lots of hero movies that are all fairly decent, I suspect it'll be a long time before someone does something different with the genre again, like Batman Begins.

Presumably the female lead film is Black Cat but I'd be astonished if they went through with it. The set-up for her character in the last film was so half-heated. Or even tenth-hearted.

If she got her own film audiences would be very much "who?"..."wait, her?"..."really"... -

I'll take an overwhelming flood of superhero movies over how it used to be.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. GotG was quite refreshing I thought, if only because it was so much fun. But yes, they are definitely becoming very similar - especially now both DC and Marvel are using each on to build towards another.

ANT MAN?!?!?
Test footage created by Edgar Wright. Sadly neither he nor Joe Cornish are involved anymore.

Registered 15 years agoCheers Pear, hadn't seen that. Mask is very Ultron-like!
Disappointed when Wright left, but am very curious to see it given who is still/now involved. -

Ant man so gonna be so hard to pull off. If you treat it too seriously then it's going to come across as ridiculous. If you go too comedic then again its just going to amplify it's inherent sillynss. I think it will be a really tough balancing act to pull it off.

Registered 15 years agoI think they'll do it though. Guardians of the Galaxy had a similar problem with Groot and Rocket, and they completely nailed them. -
@CosmicFuzz
you're right. That gives me hope they can pull that off. When I first saw Guardians of the Galaxy, I just thought wow that looks stupid. A talking racoon? Really?
