Will wait till my contract ends in March then. Bit much for an impulse buy.

Ouch... I was hoping for a bit less than that, I'll admit.

Fucking hell. I wanted to jump ship this year, but an iPhone 6 is not much more and I'm already tied in with the apps etc. Gah.

Seems Google have forgotten a major thing that makes the Nexus appealing... price.
  • Deleted user 7 November 2014 09:16:52
£499! I bought my Nexus 5 a few months after launch for £200 sim free.

Yeah, definite price hike from 5 to 6. Shame, as they really had a great thing going with their well-priced sim free phones.

Way too much to justify buying it outright. Will wait until January to see what phones I can get then.

    No thanks!

I thought the whole thing about the oneplusone was that it was meant to make manufacturers sit back and go "hang on we cant charge £500 for handsets anymore"

Actually with this and the new galaxy prime thing, its gone the other way.

I thought the Nexus 4 did that before the OnePlusOne did, but yeah, I was definitely hoping for a move towards lower-priced handsets.

It will be interesting to see if the reviews justify the price. I guess we'll find out next week.

I'm thinking the Nexus 6 might be the last spasm of the dying premium priced android phones. I'd love a Nexus 6 myself but I can't justify buying it when the OnePlus One aor the other one... Rebel something are available for half the price.

I've got a Nexus 4 at the moment but I might do the minor upgrade to a 5 instead of a 6 after seeing this. No way I'm paying that for any phone, no matter how much a Nexus fanboy I can be.
  • Deleted user 10 November 2014 16:45:54
Fucking hell aren't nexus phones supposed to be cheap? Actually makes me tempted to get an iPhone.
  • Deleted user 10 November 2014 16:50:00
I was going to get this until I saw the price, got a One Plus One instead. It's gigantic, going to take some getting used to after a Nexus 4...

If you don't mind the fun and games of cancelling an O2 refresh deal it's 400 ish for a nexus 6

    Too big for me

Okay, now it feels normal and every other phone feels tiny. NOVELTY PERIOD OVER. Still feels a bit Dom Joly trying to actually use it as a phone though.

    @neilka

I have been meaning to ask; have you still got your old Nexus 4 or 5 to compare them to this rather hefty sized new phone?

Also, is it comfortable to hold, as those slightly sharp-ish edges of the Nexus 4/5 made it a bit bothersome to hold for long periods of time?

    Question time ... over!

Wish this phone was available in red, as the red Nexus 5, which looks a bit charmless in photos, is rather magnificent in person.

@neilka so how is it? Got used to it?

    Getting one tomorrow

Yeah, pretty much. The Nexus 5 feels comically tiny going back to it now! It's all been great so far, no real complaints apart from the back button being impossible to reach one-handed. Apple have their Reachability thing which can shrink down the UI temporarily to avoid that but Google don't seem to have bothered.

Mmmm, sounds quite promising then. As sad as it sounds, done my head in being without a phone today :/
