Not sure about it. Just a bunch of random action beats really, hard to get a handle on what it's about or any of the characters beyond maybe Harley, but that's just from prior knowledge. Loads of Will Smith being Will Smith, barely anyone else. Joker could be interesting, hope it's far removed from previous two versions though.

Obviously at the end of the day this was for Comic Con crowd, who aren't the general public and so don't need a more fleshed out trailer. First proper trailer should be better.

I'm pretty sure Joker isn't really in this film much, and Jai Courtney must have the best agent in Hollywood to keep getting jobs.

Apart from Will Smith looking like Will Smith, wouldn't this be 'grittily accurate'? Surely the real Joker would be a fucking meth loon?

No point in copying what's already been done. May as well make him as different as possible.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with characters looking like crack addicts etc if they're going for some kind of realism. Rather that than a repeat of what's come before.

They've barely filmed anything yet so I wouldn't expect anything more.

Will needs his mask on a lot to not stand out.
  • Deleted user 14 July 2015 09:01:18
Why would he have his mask on a lot? Haven't they cast Wiki Wiki Will Will specifically for 'star power'? If not, why would they pay millions for him when Ray Park would do it for air miles?

So they can put starring Will Smith on the poster. There are shots in there with him wearing his mask anyway.

The problem with that being that Ledgers Joker was an almost perfect incarnation of the character (not just my opinion) and he won an Oscar for the role.

Like you say, they've gone in a completely different direction with the character, but with Ledgers version still fresh in peoples minds, Letos version is coming across as a cheap knock-off (imo).

Weirdly, you would think no one else was in this movie other than margot robbie.

All of the promotion has pitched it as Harley Quinn: the movie.

She looks like Britta out of Community cosplaying as Harley.

Which is probably why she is front and centre, tbh. Total nerdbait.

    She looks filthy yet innocent.

Apparently the new 52 version of Harley is similar to this one ie less cutesy/funny/crazy and more sexy/psycho.

I thought Harley looked great in Arkham Knight (costume/look wise....im not turned on by graffix!) and i cant help thinking Miss Robbie would look even better in that costume.

Kinky maid outfit and tits pushed up more. I can watch the opening 20 seconds of porn videos for that.

My only complaint is that Croc doesn't look as big as I think he should. The guy is quite literally a beast, and yet the trailer made him seem rather tame/whipped.

As for Robbie as Harley - I had absolutely no problem with her appearing as she did. What would you rather she wore, that red and black ensemble from the cartoon?

Though she does look like a Camden trollop tripping on acid.

That doesn't surprise me. Turns out the comic book community seem to have an odd fetish for disturbed and vulnerable hot chicks in abusive relationships.

That or it makes for an easy cosplay outfit.

The casting is just all wrong for this and do they really need to make a movie out of it when idea is pretty pants in the comics/animated.

The vibe im getting from this movie is that David Ayer isnt a "comic book guy". He's either messed up the casting or the look of each character (or both in some cases).
After watching Sabotage recently too, i'm less and less confident about this movie.

I've yet to watch Sabotage, but Fury was pretty decent when it wasn't trying to do any sort of human character interaction stuff. The man can certainly shoot a good gritty battle scene.

Your basic problem is that Jai Courtney seems to be a franchise killer.

He's like Sam Worthington with less charisma, somehow.

Neither is Nolan. That isn't a problem in itself.

Everything about this seems like a waste, but then so does the entire grimdark DC movie universe thing they're trying to do to replicate Marvel's success.

The gritty/realistic take works for Batman, and Nolan knocked it out of the park. The problem started when MoS became a continuation of the Nolanverse, and then they added all this stuff into it (Justice League, Suicide Squad) but splintered the Nolanverse Batman away, leaving everything with a miserable colour palette and over-serious tone.

    DO. NOT. WATCH. IT.

The trailer made it look like loads of fun, but somehow its one of the most boring, pointless movies i've seen in years. Almost as bad as Domino.....

Heh, yeah I have heard it is shockingly bad. But, you know, Arnie...

I always wished they'd left the Nolan-verse completely behind and gone in a more comic book direction. It's a lot tougher to get people on board with folk like Killer Croc and Captain Boomerang in a serious, gritty show. Hell, even The Flash struggled to do Captain Boomerang well and that's about as campy as you can get.

it also looks as though it's going to be pretty intense. Torture sequences? I don't think this film will be a 12A somehow.
