Someone on Facebook posted a link to this gem, the trailer for which looks great - I don't know how entertaining it would be for a full length picture but its certainly a fresh idea. |
Hardcore - First Person POV Film.

Registered 10 years ago@BinaryBob101 Okay, which other film has used a first person perspective - would like to see how far into the film I get before it becomes stale.
As for the whole "old load of fucking bobbins" part, I don't think from a three minute snippet that that is a fair reflection really. The film itself will probably be shit, but from the trailer it looks like it won't take itself too seriously and is it just to cause mindless bloody fun. Which I wouldn't really mind. -

Registered 12 years agoWell, pretty much any found footage film, so:
The Blair Witch Project
Cloverfield
Grave Encounters
Etc
Etc
Some of Gravity
Enter The Void
Some of Doom
Some of The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2
Shall I go one?
It's a three minute trailer. I didn't get past minute one, mostly because, IMO, it was a load of old fucking bobbins. Trailers should sell a film. It didn't seel the film to me. -

Registered 10 years ago@damagedinc Blair witch and Cloverfield are the whole camcorder idea, like Paranormal Activity etc.
I meant the idea was fresh from an action point of view, but I completely forgot about doom. In that though the First Person bit is only brief, which is kinda my point. A solely Action film from a FP POV would get tedious quick - I was hoping someone knew of one for comparison.
If its going to have First Person bits, it requires a lot of down time away from the action where normal camera angles are used otherwise, after ten mins everyone would of had their fill. -
There was a recent horror movie that used FPS viewpoint - Grace: The Possession.
It's a shitty gimmick that wears thin after about five minutes, but is all the rage at the moment because buying a GoPro somehow makes up for the lack of talent and thought that should go into such an endeavour. -

[REC] 2
They are found footage, but are also absolutely first person films. -

Registered 10 years ago@BinaryBob101 Yea, you're right the trailer doesn't sell it. I just thought that it might appeal to someone.
Rec 1 & 2 are also very on par with Paranormal Activity - but I get your point. These films aren't action films though and aren't fair comparisons.

Registered 13 years agoYeah there are 2 of them and they are both pretty enjoyable.
Not really terrifying or anything, just a bunch of different cool ideas of varying success.
If one story doesn't do it for you, the next one is guaranteed to.
I enjoyed them a million times more than the A to Z of death, of which only a couple of the stories were any good. -

Registered 12 years agoOh give me a fucking break. The first three I listed did use first person, it just shifted.
In your opinion this looks fucking amazing. In my opinion you're either twelve, or you need to see a lot more films. Creating a new visual language?!? By copying a computer game genre? Seriously? Do. Fuck. Off. Are you the director?
So, you're meaningless.

Brief handicam footage? Brief? Have you seen those films?

Registered 12 years agoThat doesn't count because this is watershed moment which will create a new cinematic visual language.
You know, like CoD but in the cinema and mercifully much shorter. -
I'm sure Maniac was all from Woods perspective. It was a bit naff if, ya know, you don't count the new cinematic language it created.
