Hitchcock used a lost of first person, and Peeping Tom was also very famous for pioneering the technique. Jaws is also worth a mention. |

Its Russian, its POV and its not porn! remarkable, same bloke from District 9 by the looks of it.
The same director has made another short POV film before about a teleporter device activated by water, think its called bad motherfucker?

Without that being explained the trailer came over as even dumber. -

Registered 14 years ago@Shadowhelper 'Never been a mainstream POV film'...
There was, all the way back in 1947. It's pretty famous, actually. So all the superlatives you're mustering are fairly redundant. -

Aside from the horror movie I mentioned earlier.

This is the first POV film. Because the whole movie is POV, that is just an objective fact, only an idiot like Binarybob would embarrass themselves arguing against this.
And Russian Ark
And Maniac
And Enter the Void
And The Lady in the Lake from the 50s.
But aside from those, sure.

Registered 15 years ago....so this film is essentially like those shit cdi games -
Bob! You idiot! You complete idiot. You dumb dumbass. You really are comically ignorant when it comes to things that have never been done before. Even a chap who's just registered a few days ago can see this. -
It's nicely done, but it's still just a bit of live action CoD. Three minutes is probably as long as it can go before it gets tedious. At least the real CoD allows you control.
Can I add the Alien films to the POV list? I think there were a few sequences from the Alien's POV, or to scare you into thinking it was the Alien.
The best POV I've seen was a music video - Prodigy's 'Smack my bitch up', with its splendid twist. -
Hang about - has no-one said 'game changer' yet?
GAME CHANGER -
With this CoD live action short, we have CROSSED THE RUBICON OF FILMOGRAPHIC POSSIBILITIES.
Anyone who says otherwise is a comically ignorant dumbass idiot. -

Look what you've made me do, Ilya Naishuller. Look!

Registered 12 years agoNo, they haven't, but please keep mentioning films, tv, or books which have used first person point of view before Hardcore has. Oh, and all the games that this film clearly and absolutely does NOT rip-off. -

PARADIGM SHIFT -
QUANTUM LEAP -
Actually, it's about first person ethics in films. -
That short needs some character names btw. You know - to personalise them. To make them identifiable.
Something like, oh I dunno
Maybe Captain Tavish for the old British guy, and McPrice for the protaganist. Maybe even a nickname? "Soap" Mc.Price. It has a ring to it. -

Maybe live action first person shooter film instead of POV then? -

Registered 7 years agoHardcore looks fucking amazing, there as never been anything like this on film.
Wrong.
This could legitimately be ground breaking; creating new visual language.
Wrong.
Whether you like this or not, this is unprecedented, never been done. No movie has attempted it, mainly because it has not been possible to make it look great, for it to work, they believe this has changed.
Wrong.
This is the first POV film.
Wrong.
Whether you like this or not, this is new, and it could be a big deal.
Wrong.
What is not an opinion is, this is a first, this is a full POV film, and in order for that to work it will have to cinematically achieve something that has never been done.
Wrong.
You're pretty arrogant for someone who's wrong, aren't you?
2013's Hotel Inferno was the first film I know of to be shot entirely in a first person view. And of course there might be more I don't know of.

I'm still to understand how Blair Witch and Cloverfield weren't shot entirely in the first person.
