At the moment I carry around my iPod, moby and pda. The main use for the pda these days is purely for reading eBooks. I'd kinda like to reduce the amount of crap I carry round with me by having a moby that reads ebooks. I know of stuff like the XDA, but its still a bit big for my tastes. I'm not interested in an Archos to merge music/ebook, video is completely useless to me, and I've absolutely no interest in moby's with cameras built in (although I suppose any phone that has ebook support would probably be pda-ish, thus have a camera as default). I'm not too keen on any phone that has huge pda type dimensions either, as size is an issue. Jeez, I'm a bit picky aren't I? Any suggestions? I'm pretty sure what I'm after doesn't exist yet (or rather, doesn't suit my requirements). |
Any mobile phones available that you can read eBooks on?

Registered 18 years agoThat could be what I'm looking for, thanks. A lot cheaper than I expected too.
What's the ebook support like? I prefer minimalist readers i.e. a screen that is devoted to the actual text rather than loads of icons and screen furniture. I assume it recognises txt files but what about rtf, and .lit? And does reading seriously impinge on the batt life?(I'm going to have a looksy on the net myslef, but any info would be appreciated).
edit: imponge?!!

Hehehe. Seriously though, I'm amazed at what you can achieve with a 176*220 screen. I've been watching subbed animé, FFS!

Thing is, prior to my current pda (Tungsten T3) I read ebooks on a 160x160 screen for years, so going back down to a 176x220 screen won't be an issue.
Partly why I'm interested is because I'll be starting a new job shortly, during which I'm not really supposed to carry anything other than a mobile phone. A bit of a bugger since I'll get fairly long periods when I'm not doing much. The powers that be wouldn't like me having a fully blown pda (or something that resembles one, like the XDA) so something like the C500 would be ideal. -
