I'm looking for somewhere to store some of my GT4 pics/vids so whatever would be best for that. I don't really know anything about this sort of stuff. Thanks |
Anyone know where I can get some cheap web-space?

Registered 20 years agowww.angeltowns.com is where I'm about to setup a decent account. Bit of a shady looking company but friends have been with them for a while without problem and it seems liek a good price and reasonable services. Nice perk is unlimited bandwidth so you can share that 200MB DivX movie of the perfect nurburgring 10 laps with all your broadband enabled friends (4GB/month would allow 20 people to download that file before you hit the monthly cap, sounds almost as bad as stupidly low capped broadband to me. If you give me 200 or 300MB od space I want to be able to use it and share that content with a reaonsable amount of people. Then again, I do make gameplay videos and then encode them full res high quality. Like I know people who don't have at least 1Mbit internet).
Related question for peeps: what domain provider do you use (I'm probably looking for a couple of .com or .net addys on the cheap, annual renewal, not someone who will turn round after 12 months and say unless I pay double they'll give the domain to someone else so pay up or lose it forever) -

A lot of companies that claim to offer unlimited bandwidth usually hide clauses in the terms and conditions that say that if you use an unreasonable amount of bandwidth they'll block your site, for an amount of time determined by them.
*Almost, but there may be one or two still around.
And finally I use Web Hosting Buzz decent space, 25Gb download limit, and the not extortianate price of $35 (or about tuppence'apenny at current exchange rates) a year. Nice! -

Registered 20 years agoNo such thing as unlimited bandwidth as unwashed says, you use shedloads of it and they'll drop you like a ton of bricks or throttle the bandwidth you have to make it useless. -

Obviously, I wasn't suggesting IGN should move over to them for their needs but when it comes to a personal site you're not getting into the GB/min level of demand and so 'unlimited' is a nice phrase for 'lots'. Mate has had 2 months over 400GB/month with that company so it seems like they really aren't that bothered, despite the cheap price. -

godaddy.com do .com/.net for $8.95 a year, and are very reputable, giving you full ownership and DNS control. -

Obviously not unlimited, but I would assume that a fair proportion of their customers are enticed by the 'unlimited' but then never use more than a few megs of storage, and hardly any bandwidth.
