Gaming chairs/Beanbags. Anyone own one?

  • Deleted user 23 November 2014 14:47:35
Hi all. Long story short after talking with the missus this came up in conversation (by her)
I may buy one but it's something I know nothing about.

Basically are they any good and any recommendations?

I have an XRocker. It's old now and barely gets used anymore, but it's surprisingly comfortable.

This is the thing that's putting me off some of these. They don't look comfy at all but plenty of reviews say they are.

I would only consider one if my couch/settee didn't already lend itself to a sedentary experience. I could literally sit on my couch until doomsday.

My apartment looks quite nice at the moment and not like a teenager's bedroom. Should I get a gaming chair?
  • Deleted user 23 November 2014 19:39:02
The only reason I'm thinking gaming chair is that I've just moved into a new build and my living room is a lot bigger then what it was in my old house. Nothing wrong with my sofa at all but I'd like to sit a bit closer.
I just want something I can get out when I want to game and then stick under the stairs once done. Problem is most of these gaming chairs look a bit naff to me.

I got one for my son and he loves it. Beanbag type with a back.

I have one for that exact reason - the couch is a little too far from the TV for videogames. I rest it up against the coffee table and move it out of the way when I'm done. Despite how it looks, it's actually really comfortable, and the speakers are solid.

    Basically this model - http://www.amazon.com/Rocker-Video-Gaming-Chair-Wireless/dp/B003CNST9Q/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1416771812&sr=8-14&keywords=x+rocker

    @Gremmoo
Nice car seat for your toddler... Any chance of the correct link for your gaming chair, though?...

I had one of the big comfy X-Rocker ones. Fine to sit in but didn't do what I wanted. Swapped it for a Pyramat one, which are horribly uncomfortable and you can't sit in them for too long at once, but they're amazing. The sub inside smacks you in the back, which was what I wanted. Playing Rez on it feeling the bass slamming through you is great.

Edit: should add that don't get one if you live in an apartment. I had to get rid of mine when I moved, since it's basically a giant subwoofer you sit on. They're not popular with the neighbours.

I managed to bag a pair of 70's swivel egg chairs, say what you want about that decade, but they fucking nailed comfort.

Are you using it with or without the trance vibrator?... I guess if the bass vibrations from the chair are deep enough you could do without the peripheral.

Think I might get one of these.

Easily stored under the stairs when not in use :)

@Shikasama They put speakers in and it's low on the ground so your eyes are pretty much level with the TV. It's not like they're taking Ikea furniture and just re labelling it for morons.

Think I'm gonna get the pro version of that x rocker vision. Silly price but hey it's only money. Some peeps spend double that on a racing setup.

    I have a Fatboy: http://www.fatboy.com/gb/original-online-shop

It's comfy, and is useful for visiting guests too. I actually slept on it for a few weeks when I moved into a previous apartment and was waiting for my bed to show up.

I'd probably get the stonewashed (wasn't available when I bought mine).
