Registered 14 years agoMight I suggest moving these two threads to the "General Gaming" category? I don't know what the breakdown is of New vs Old layout users is, in the forums, but I use the New layout and I know I would have missed this if it wasn't for the fact I donated some keys for the PC prize pot and had the link from Zoolophage. -
I have no objections if a mod wants to move it to where the thread to where it might be more visible. -

@RyanDS
As this is the first time we've tried this it's very much an experimental thing. I don't want it to get too big and get out of hand so that administering it becomes difficult. Mighty oaks grow from acorns and all that. We'll raise whatever we raise this year and hopefully next year come back and do even better. No reason why this can't become a regular seasonal feature of the EG forums, like the Secret Santa and other xmas themed things that other EG users are organising.
We've already raised £250 which was my original target so I'm really happy with that. Could we raise more? Sure, but that's not really the main point. Now quite a few people are aware of The Children's Charity and are hopefully empowered with the knowledge that everyone, of however modest means, can make a real difference to things. None of us are millionaires but you all have the power of philanthropy within. You can help good causes and make the world a little bit better for everyone. You just have to decide to do it.
Who knew I could organise a raffle and that people would actually enter it? I've tried, it became a 'thing' and we've raised a bunch of money that would otherwise not have been raised.
Bear in mind that this is a gaming site, many people don't regularly visit or read the forums, it's also near Christmas, and a lot of people also don't like doing digital charity, nor do they have any particular reason to trust that the raffle is legit (which it is, I hasten to add!).
So...from my point of view, so far so good
-
Another prize is incoming!
User thedaveeyres has very generously offered up a mystery c64 related prize. It will be posted out to whomever wins it. Everyone who has entered any of the raffles is eligible to win this fantastic and amazing prize!
-
Got some PMs with questions so I'm bumping the raffle info again.
RAFFLE INFO
There are 4 raffles: 1 for xbox, psn, nintendo and pc systems.
There are two steps involved in entering:
1 - Make your Donation
Make a donation of £2.50 or more for each 'system' raffle that you wish to enter. e.g. if you want to enter the psn and xbox raffles, donate £5.
The page for donations is:
https://www.justgiving.com/zoolophage
You can donate via the web site with Paypal or Debit/Credit Card.
You don't have to publicise your name, raffles entered or donation amount on the Just Giving page. It's just for collecting the donations.
Note that as you stand to gain some 'benefit' from this raffle DO NOT ADD GIFT AID.
Donating via SMS
You can donate via text by sending the following message to 70070
EGAM50 £3
Note you can also text £1, £2, £5, £7 or £10. It would be appreciated if you could try to match your donation to the number of raffles you wish to enter, but it's not strictly necessary (any amount is greatly appreciated!). Again, DON'T ADD GIFT AID.
2 - Post your details in the '2015 Charity Raffle Entry thread'
at:
http://www.eurogamer.net/forum/thread/289589
Please read the first post and do as it asks! Please do not post general messages etc. in the entry thread. They will be deleted!
What are the prizes?
PC
There will be one Grand Prize of 15 pc games and several smaller prize bundles. The exact number of prizes will depend on how many donated games we receive (but looks to be at least 10 other prize bundles atm).
All pc prizes will be comprised of Steam Gifts, donated Steam Keys as well as any other games that are able to be donated electronically via Good Old Games etc. The Grand Prize is chock full of handpicked 'good' games. Other prizes may vary in quality
Playstation - £60 of UK eshop credit. Three prizes of £20 UK eshop credit. Possibly other stuff if anyone donates.
Xbox - £60 of UK eshop credit. Three prizes of £20 eshop credit. Possibly other stuff if anyone donates.
Nintendo - £60 of UK eshop credit. One prize of £30 UK eshop credit, 2 prizes of £15 UK eshop credit. Possibly other stuff if anyone donates.
When will the draw be held?
Saturday 10th January 2015 (or there about). Names will randomly drawn from a hat or other random method. I (zoolophage) will not enter the raffle in the interests of fairness and impartiality.
How can I donate a prize?
We have already secured some games for prizes but would be very happy to receive more (a big xmas sale from a well known online store will be coming up...hint..hint).
Please PM me if you wish to donate steam keys, eshop credit or anything else. If you donate a prize bundle, you get to name it. For Steam Gifts, you should hold the relevant games as gifts in your inventory and gift them over to the winner after the raffle. You can also offer up physical prizes, if you don't mind posting them out to the winner.
What are the rules?
- Only 1 entry per person to each 'system' raffle. You are encouraged to donate £2.50 for each separate raffle that you enter but any amount is gratefully accepted
- You must post your entry details in the '2015 Charity Raffle Entry Thread'
- All donated games/keys etc. must be legal and above board. No dodgy stuff, please! All items are offered in good faith but I cannot 100% guarantee that all keys etc. will work (but they should)
- No cash/alternatives or replacement prizes will be offered. No written correspondence will be entered into. The decisions of the organiser are final and cannot be appealed against. Basically, this is a charitable raffle for a good cause and every effort will be made to keep things fun, fair and square. -

@Rivuzu
I'll use a python script to generate random numbers and look up the entries in an excel spreadsheet. -
Just shy of 300 pounds raised now! Awesome! -

Winner! You have won 8 Bit Boy.

I feel like I am playing commander Keen again on my old 286! It has that old Apogee feel, combined with shamelessly stolen gameplay from Mario.
Great stuff. -

Cool. I thought it looked like a fun little retro inspired game. Thanks for the update. -
Ok people, every day until xmas you have the chance to win a game from the pc sale (gives me a chance to practice the raffle and also share some seasonal joy at the same time.)
