If Parrying came back, everyone would try and be Daigo. Fuck that. Unless it's Garou: MOTW style "Just Recover" parrying in which it gives you health back, that'd be interesting. Focus attack will stay I reckon. The whole FADC and cancelling mechanics is what seperates the good players for the scrubs (me!). The backgrounds on the video look more detailed. Injustice style level transitions perhaps? Would be shit, but who knows. |

Registered 14 years agoThey need to seriously consider using a similar approach to GG Xrd graphically. Those models look hand drawn until the action stops and the camera pans around.
I'd love to see SFA or SF3 style art in a modern 3D game. -

plz no. -
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the art style in 4. Proper 2D would have been awesome. -

Registered 15 years agoWhy do people think Sony bought this as an exclusive? Is that confirmed?
Even if it is, Ono said they didn't have the money to develop it, so if Sony stepped in isn't that a good thing? Isn't that exactly what people praise Nintendo for doing with Bayonetta 2?
Also, 8 way run Street Fighter. Imagine it. -
Nobody yet knows the deal.
I find it very hard to give even the slightest toss about it. -

Registered 14 years agoI should really play more USFIV. The shoddy connections and constant drops to some people really put me off, though. I should play more KoFXIII for that matter too, but it's not the most popular game on my friends list. -

I'm a bit deflated that it looks like it does. Every new numbered iteration of SF has had a style different to the last, where this just looks like SFIV.

I hope that some of the poorer models like Guile, 'gief and Blanka have been changed at least. -

What do you reckon - parry? New focus effect? A bigger hadouken ala Genki's?

Is this really a big deal?
/Hasn't played a Street Fighter game since the SNES days. -

Yap. Ditto. Really got back into my Street Fighter.
It's a big deal for me. Can't wait.
It all rests on the netcode. That and the decision of Console or PC. Console will mean buying a new fightstick.
On the other hand, Console will mean buying a new fightstick 8D -

Registered 14 years agoAren't MrTomFTW and his kind missing the point with the Tomb Raider comparisons? I personally think there's a pretty big difference between paying to keep a nearly completed game off a rival platform to being an investor at the very start of a project. As somebody else said, Bayonetta 2 is probably a much closer comparison.
It sucks for me regardless, I personally would trade SFV for TR any day. I've found Street Fighter impossibly hard since the SNES ^_^ -

Registered 16 years agoIf Sony had secured exclusivity, why is there a PC version? It's obviously not as straight forward as the Tomb Raider situation where we actually knew that Microsoft had paid to keep the game off other platforms. -

Registered 15 years agoI think it's more of a culture thing. Capcom probably look at global sales, and regional sales of One vs PS4, and decide based off of that. They don't want to throw money away on a machine that wont sell - at least not on home ground.
PS4 architecture is more alike PC than One as well, which means when making their Cab's it'll be an easier transition. -

It's a great shame that the excitement around the announcement for this being swallowed up by console exclusivity debate. If this was exclusive to the Panasonic 3DO I'd get on eBay in a heartbeat. -

To clarify, it's less of a "We Love Sony!" statement than it is "Fuck you Microsoft cunts!" one.

Registered 14 years ago@Steve_Perry It's not conjecture that this is near the start of the Street Fighter project and that Tomb Raider was near the end of the project. It's minor in the grand scheme of things but I thought it was MS throwing money at Square Enix last minute that riled everybody up.
Cappy wrote:
I don't know if that was a counter point to what I said but yeah, I agree. Somebody in the comments suggested it could have been MS being anal about cross play which I know has cost them dearly in the past, not that I can think of an example right now.

Anyway, don't want to tarnish the thread any further. My last experience with Street Fighter was the original Marvel vs. Capcom on the Dreamcast and I was completely shit at it. -

Personally I think that's just a convenient way to hand-wave away the fact a company is giving another company money for an exclusive.

I don't mind exclusives at all, they've existed in one form or another since the beginning of home gaming and I'm used to them. Sure I miss out on the occasional game. A Bayonetta 2 here, a Halo there but in the end it's a business and not the end of the world.
I just mind the "RAR THIS IS DISGUSTING MS/SONY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. I DESERVE TO PLAY THIS ON THIS FORMAT."
Well, yeah it'd be nice to play it on Xbox One day and date of the PS4 release but that's not always how it goes. Sony feels they need a big exclusive, they've got one. Good for them.
I also mind those who try to justify "Oh well they paid for this at the beginning of development whereas this was paid for halfway through". Like it matters. Sony isn't paying because of the love of the game any more than Microsoft would be in the same position, and don't try to pretend otherwise just because you* favour one console over another.
