1 rice to 1.5 water for sushi rice cooked in a rice cooker. A touch more water if you want it stickier.

Cup of rice. Two cups of water. In a pan for 10/12 mins. You really need a rice cooker? (says the guy who just bought a breadmker).
Too much water surely - or are you not steaming it? You need a rice cooker Mowgli :)
My rice is superb. Seriously. A cup of rice, two cups of boiling water. In a pan with the lid on for about ten mins. Make sure to stir fairly frequently. My wife is the same though - just can't seem to cook it on the hob but it works fine for me. (might be therice I'm using!)
Never, ever take the lid off. At all, not even once.

    Here's how to do it.

Wash rice 2 or 3 times.

    1 part rice, 1 + 1/2 part water.
    Lid on.

Cook on lowest possible heat for 15-20 minutes.
Remove from heat, leave with lid on for 5 or 10 minutes - far longer if you want.

It will then be fluffy and perfect.
Gotta say, blonks knows nothing about films, but he knows his rice.

I bring it to the boil, then as low as you can go for about 8 minutes, then set aside for as long as you can wait, but I'm sure you get very similar results. Just less time. Probably being a tad pedantic though.

Never take the lid off though. Never. Madhur Jaffrey said so.

Can't we just agree that rice cookers are the easiest way? Plus you can do that germinated brown rice thing (well, I can't since I was never going to, but you know what I mean).

We just use a general 3 tier steamer to cook vegetables and it has a rice bowl for steaming rice.

Much nicer than boiling and infinitely better than microwave in a bag shit.

Could never justify £200 on a rice steamer.
