First film in years I've pre-booked. I'm not sure I'll even do that for Star Wars.

98% on Rotten Tomatoes, with only one FILTHY DISSENTER from the Daily Mirror.

Much appears to be made of how it's a "feminist" film. Which suits me just fine, but I wonder if there's going to be some backlash about it.

Not sure one YouTube commenter counts as a backlash though.

I haven't really being following the development of this film and just assumed it would probably be rubbish. But with the praise it's receiving I am now a little excited and may even venture out to the pictures to see it.

I'm off work tomorrow as it's my Birthday so I thought fuck it I'll go see this. Have it booked at 3d imax for 2pm. Hope it's as good as the reviews make it out to be!

I'm sure it will look great in 3D, but I'm definitely going to see it in 2D on Thursday. I did seem checking and seems the 3D was a post convert and so is the IMAX, director preferred 2D for early screenings.

I'll be honest I've seen quite a few films now in 3D and been underwhelmed by all of them. It's just that I really fancy watching it in IMAX and the 3D was the only option at the cinema I'm going to. I'll still enjoy it though....Hopefully.

Well looks like this was meant to be so just booked the tickets online. Bout half an hour after posting this a few people from the office came round my desk to wish me happy birthday and give me my present. They bought me 4 bags of sweets and 2 gift cards for Cineworld!

Lol, sods law that! Hope you enjoy it tomorrow. I've gotta wait for the weekend, argh.

Off topic, but someone bought me a cineworld gift card once for my birthday. They didn't realise my nearest cineworld is about 40 miles away.

Got some good use out of that :l

    Tickets booked for Saturday night!

Sat the Mrs down to watch Mad Max last night - I did warn her that it hasn't aged well and it's quite rough around the edges, but she still wasn't fussed.

We'll be watching Road Warrior at some point before Saturday, so hopefully that will ignite her enthusiasm!
  • Deleted user 13 May 2015 16:29:14
I might watch road warrior tonight. Bought the trilogy on blu Ray ages ago but only rewatched mad max recently.
  • Deleted user 13 May 2015 18:04:20
@Syrette 2D. Less to do with being anti-3D or owt like and more to do with the absolute certainty that we'll forget to bring the glasses and end up having to buy more.

Watching the original tonight and hopefully 2 before Sunday when we should be going to see fury road. Nicholas Holts character seems a bit annoying but everything else looks good .. IMDB showing 9.3 which is very high

Fury Road has now crept back up to 99% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, I don't think there's ever been a big summer blockbuster that's settled on a score that high! I'm trying to keep my hype levels in check, but jesus!
I'm also wondering who will try to snap George Miller up first, Marvel or DC, because after this you just know that one of them is going to want him directing one of their upcoming movies.
  • Deleted user 13 May 2015 22:53:37
Fucking hell... I'd totally written this off as yet another pointless reboot, but it seems to be the first one in a long time that actually has a reason to exist.

Just walked out of the imax showing of this. Actually really enjoyed it! About as deep as a paddling pool but visually just stunning to look at and the action was amazing. As popcorn action films go im struggling to think of any criticism. Like at all.

We're on Mad Max 3 tonight. I, too, am forcing the girlfriend to watch them ready for Fury Road!

She hated the first movie, thought it was dull dross.
Then she thought the second one was a poor copy of Water World.

I think I might be single by tomorrow.

Just seen Fury Road. It's an assault on the senses, absolutely relentless, and pretty fantastic!

One is not that good tbh. There's no plot and it still manages to feel disjointed. The second one is very good though, even viewed today. And the third is not that bad either.
