So you're one of those guys that thinks by not enjoying anything you're somehow superior to people who do enjoy things. How's that working out for you?

Now we are seeing increasingly 'wacky' plots, character exaggeration, and an absence of the kind of subtlety to the jokes that made the preceding episodes so good.
Lets just give a run down of Season 1 for "wacky" plots, eh?

Episode 1, Rick has Morty smuggle alien seeds up his ass, which gets tracked going through intergalactic customs, which ends up with a shoot out with a load of bug race people, and ultimately get absorbed into him making him super smart temporarily - but wastes the seed, so they have to go back.
Episode 2, "Where are my balls, Summer?" with a hyper intelligent dog who makes other hyper intelligent dogs who take over the world, whilst Rick and Morty Inception themselves into a Nightmare on Elm Street spoof (BITCH) just to get him an A in a class.
Episode 3, Rick founded a theme park inside of a homeless person with every single disease known to man, Jurassic Park shit happens, and eventually they expand the homeless dude to be the size of the planet and blow him up.
Episode 4, Rick and Morty (and Jerry, who is forever Hungry for Apples?) are trapped in an alien VR world just for Rick to give them his dark matter equation.
    Episode 5, fucking Mister Meeseeks.
Episode 6, he ends up Kronenburging the world, and to escape it they hop into a different reality with a dead Rick and Morty, bury them in the garden, and replace them in the family.
Episode 7, Morty bangs a sexbot, has a kid which is a Gazorpazorpian, and tries to play dad whilst his parents rip the shit out of him. Becomes a successful author by writing a book about Morty as a terrible father.
Episode 8, alternate reality TV. It's essentially a clip show, but with weird off the wall shit.

Do you need me to go on? Are you seeing much sense to the plots? It's all wacky shit. That's the point of the show. If it's taken you three seasons to realise you don't like it, then boy did you fuck up.

If anything I'd say the problem I had with the Vindicators was that it wasn't wacky enough, it was just a bit filler-y and plodded along a bit. The Mad Max and Pickle Rick episodes both felt like they had a lot more momentum and energy about them.

That said, we're talking a 'bad' Rick & Morty episode rather than something actually shit like Family Guy

I loved Vindicators :), the big reveal (not a reveal) that Rick is a selfish dick made the episode to me

    #NookNook forever

    Stop over-analysing cartoons you fucks.

Having said that, I for one thought it was a good episode, not a classic, but on par with the non classic episodes from seasons one and two.

In fact it felt like a trans dimensional TV show, plus I really enjoyed the pay off at the end.

The worst I can say about the Vindicators is that, yeah, it felt like a filler sort of thing. That and the whole "Wow, Rick is an asshole, OR IS HE? Yes, he is" business, which I wouldn't say is getting tired or repetitive yet, but it may do soon.

For anyone longing for the quality of the first and second season, the latest episode was fantastic. I don't think it's a coincidence this was written by someone from season 2, or the fact that Jerry features in it. Plenty of links on YouTube of it.

@Decks ha. I loved the first two seasons. This one is OK, just not as good, imo. You don't think it's gone off the boil a bit?

Maybe I'm being harsh, saying 'it's shit now' was ott, but come on. Watch the first one again. It's gold.

@Rivuzu yeah I knew someone would pick me up on that. But they feel less inspired now. Like they've used all the best ideas.

The current season reminds me of Futurama for some reason. Or Vindicators and the Mad Max one do anyway.

Not a bad thing but a different energy level to the first two series.

Unless I just think that because I binged the first two and I'm say waiting on the new ones every week.

I've just started watching this. 3 episodes in and think it's pretty damn funny. I always dismissed it as being shit without watching an episode. Glad to be proven wrong so far.

Yeah I ignored it for ages expecting Seth Macfarlane bullshit then did both series in two days
  • Deleted user 22 August 2017 07:07:39
hah, just like you 2 i ignored it for ages. id got it set to constantly download but actively avoided it until the other night. decided to put it on while having my something to eat.

i think if i hadn't been eating at the same time i'd probably have turned it off but i ep1 ended and left me thinking 'this is shit'. then ep2 started, they dialled back Ricks burping and it just went batshit and i was laughing my as off.

i just binged the rest of S1 last night. Meeseeks is probably the funniest thing i've seen in ages. "Can do" :-)

TLDR; show is amazing, wish i started watching it sooner

For those who aren't sold on this season... yes, it's different to the first two. It's (imo) a lot darker overall, a lot more serious about the consequences of being like Rick, and more meta. But it's those things that made, say, Pickle Rick a classic, as opposed to some random filler adventure.

Which is not to say that I hate the filler stuff! I just disagree that the writers are repeating themselves too much. The show is just evolving, imo.

@ResidentKnievel Me three! Everyone else seems to be going on about the "there's shit on my ass" bit but this was the real highlight :)

Just watched the latest episode. I hate Beth even more now. If they wanted to make her unsympathetic and Jerry a sad sack, it worked, both are irritating as hell. But in a good way, superb episode as always!

Definitely this. Dan Harmon loves an evolution. Just look at Community (not even including the gas leak year).

Whirly Dirly best in this season by absolutely miles and miles and miles.

All the elements that made the first two series back in action

    :D Brilliant

How do they create songs that should be complete trash but are somehow amazing?
