I really don't feel that Mourinho is a 'breath of fresh air', unless a breath of fresh air to you is someone calling people names and throwing toys out of the pram when things don't go their way.

I still think Chelsea will win the Champions League though, although I'm not willing to bet Powerbook money on it just yet. :)

In my very humble, outsider's opinion, the difference between Mourinho and Sir Alex is that Mourinho is good. Ferguson is a cunt and a poor manager too.
    :(

A cunt eh? Ah yes, very humble there mate. Oh, and a poor manager too. Yes, terrible, managing a team to win all those trophies is a piece of piss I'm sure.

This is exactly what I meant in my post.

The reason I used IMHO, something I rarely do, is that I don't want to start an argument over this. I know how it develops and I don't care for it.

I'm not impressed with Ferguson's history. He reminds me of a former manager of the Romania's national team. Enjoyed some succes with a group of players that really coulnd't lose, then lived off his fame without ever achiveing anything else.

As I said, I'm looking at it from the outside and what I see is that there is only one good manager in the Premiership at the moment: Jose Mourinho.

No, not at all, I was just pointing out that this:

    ...isn't true.

I'm totally with you on the cunt thing though ;)

Well, to be completely honest, I didn't know about the Aberdeen thing.

But he's making so many mistakes these days. So many bad players broght in, so many good players driven away by his mad behaviour. So many goalkeepers in the world that are ten times better than Roy Caroll :).

Yes I’d agree, and yet, I still have a feeling Fergie’s got one or two really great seasons left in him. If you look back through his time at Man U, the thing that is most amazing is his level of success despite players coming and going. The original team that he started to win things with, with Brian Robson and co, was completely different to the Triple winning side, and I think we can see a new side developing now with the likes of Rooney and Ronaldo. Very few managers survive one transition like that, let alone several, and the fact that he has consistently got his teams to win major trophies shows that he is a quality manager.

Plus the Aberdeen thing was just an unbelievable achievement that really can not be belittled. I can’t ever remember a worse team winning it. Comparisons with Porto are just completely unfair. It would have been like winning it with Millwall last season.

Mourinho is an arrogant cunt. I know the papers are targetting him at the moment, picking at every little thing he does but he doesn't help himself at all. I bet he wouldn't be like this if his team wasn't at the top.

Who the hell is Mourinho & what did he do?

    /knows nothing about footy!

woah woah woah there (that means stop a horse). now, unless you were in the north east of scotland during the early 80s and personally witnessed fergie breaking the stranglehold of the old firm AND beating bayern munich and real madrid on his way to winning the cup winners cup and super cup with a team of 11 Scotsmen (at a time when Scotland had some talented players) please don't make wide sweeping and completely innacurate statements without knowing anything about the subject. yes, aberdeen today are pish and have been on a steady decline since fergie's era but to say you "can’t ever remember a worse team winning it" is bull-crap plain and simple.

    /supports aberdeen

anyway, mourinho eh? i quite like the guy. he knows how to wind people up. although he is a hypocrite (ie moaning about teams diving when his porto team were the biggest bunch of cheats I have ever seen) and will say just about anything to get a reaction. the real test for him will come next season when his players have won the PL (and possibly the champions league) and have the rest of the league and europe trying to beat them.

"The sign of a truly great team is one that retains the trophy"

    (Sir) A. Ferguson.

To start with, I couldn't stand Mourinho - he really got to me. It was only when my mate pointed out that virtually everything he says, he says firmly tongue in cheek - like when he said he's bigger than God. It was a giant piss take.

Then again, some of the comments here are true - he hates to lose and finds any reason but to blame his players or himself. Ferguson and Le Boss do exactly the same. But that in itself is the reason I think Chelsea have succeeded this year. He has shouldered all the responsibility and protected his players, whilst also giving them belief that they can do it, something Ranieri was incapable of last year.

Ferguson won the (now defunct) European Cup Winners Cup with Aberdeen, not the European Cup. Still, it's an amazing achievement considering the team he did it with, AND they beat Real Madrid, who were 6-times European Cup winners at the time.

Ferguson done well with St Mirren & Aberdeen before he went to Manyoo. Fergie completely revamped Utd not just on the pitch, but behind the scenes. Ron Atkinson had done away with Utd's youth setup before Fergie arrived and the club was a mess.

People hate Fergie. People hate Wenger. People hate Mourinho. They are the successful managers in the Premier league. Is that a coincidence?

Aye! That is bollocks, Marilena. Fergie's on his fourth team at United. Do you really think he'd be approaching 20 years at the club with one set of players?!?

Have you seen the Robson, or Cantona lately??? ;)

Who were a top class team 22 years ago. Unlike today, although things have improved dramaticaly since we opted for a non-alchie manager. Like Pinchy said, it was an incredible achievement back then which I would wager, taking all factors into consideration, he's not been able to better since.

On another note, to cling to the fantasy that football is just a game is like thinking prostitution is just sex or the movies are just entertainment. It's a business with a shop floor that people pay to watch. It's the CEO's job to paint his company in the best possible light, regardless of the facts.

What I like about Mourinho is that he brings a touch of the WWE to footie.

    More of that I say.

"Whatcha gonna do when mourinhomania runs wild on you!!"

He has just been fined and suspended for 2 champion's league matches because of the situation with Rijkaard/Frisk.

I think that's good. I think he can be vocal and a total arse. That's all fine with me. But this was taking it a step too far. It should still stay fair.

Yeah - I´d like to have seen him get more, but I spose he´s seen the seriousness of it all now. Now all I can hope for is that Bayern Münich completely destroys Chelski in the next game. I´d LOVE to see Mourinho have his ass handed to him - German style.
