    Yeah this is the big reason for my dislike. The thing about the first two films was that while they were always about Ripley, the rest of the characters were good, loads were likeable, some were hated, but still good to watch.
    I thought all the supporting characters in 3 were shit and that while the Alien lore was good, the bulk of the story just felt like a slasher film, with shitty characters getting offed.
    Probably need to re-watch it again, but I'll never actually like it.

    Yeah I'm not looking for a debate either. ASFAIC only the first two movies are worth watching. If they want me to pretend 3 and resurrection don't exist, I'm not going to have a problem with that.

    I agree, Ripley died at the end of 3. There's no way they can do anything else with the character. It's unfathomable to think they could do something as crazy as not let a dead character stay dead, although that's ignoring that there's a movie with her in after she died, and that this movie will be set before she died, but still SHE DIED. RIP RIPLEY.

    I think they should just reboot it, there's no reason to divide fans opinion regarding the sequels when they don't need ripley to make a good alien film. I mean sigourney weavers 65 for fook sake and they want set something with her after aliens? Just let her stay dead.

    Just use new characters.

    I don't know what the problem is. 3 and 4 were shit so why not just ditch them once and for all?

    Follow the story from aliens from the point of view of the colonial marines following up the events of that film - branch the story line so that removes the problem of 3 and 4 entirely and I doubt weaver wants to do another.

    3 is my favourite of the franchise, Resurrection is pure shite though, AvP and the rest can go take a flying fook as well, I enjoyed Promethius.

    I can't believe Weaver is that old, time flies.
