This game has left me seriously deflated playing anything else. I really think it'll be game of the year. |

Registered 6 years agoA bit underwhelmed with the side activities in this. The combat is ok but really dated in execution. Hoping the story is good enough to carry the fairly poor gameplay through as i have enjoyed that side of it, Im not that far into chapter 2 yet. I do like the craziness of it all though. -

Registered 2 years agoHmm, really not feeling this. Reeks of a budget title. Looks like a PS2 game in places. Game world is awful. Combat is slow and clunky. Looks like a mini game compilation.

Registered 15 years agoI'm loving this game!
there feels something very unique about it. You buy a fighting game, and after a few hours you are doing everything else but fighting. And the fact you are hooked on the other stuff really Shows the greatness of yakuza games.
I prefer the main fighting style of the first character, but I love the additional fighting styles of Majima Goro. But like I said, at the Moment running the Club feels more important than fighting. -

Registered 11 years agoI enjoyed the combat. It's third person streets of rage. Unlocking different upgrades does help, but yeah, don't expect too much depth. Besides they last 30 seconds or so tops so long as you're not a window licker with the controller.
Plot, characters and setting make the game though. It's fantastic. If you don't like that, you have no soul, your bloodline is weak, and your ancestry may contain horse. -

Registered 12 years agoMy bowling game may be weak but my Yakuza game is strong!
The brutally satisfying combat was a big draw to me for the series, the Japanese melodrama and tourism simulator make it a wholly unique experience.
Yes it can be shonky but it's got a lot of heart. -

Registered 10 years agoI loved the side quests, most of them were very original. Though I may just have that impression because it was my first Yakuza game.

Voice Actors are expensive yo. They picked the lines to be spoken with more drama I guess.

Registered 12 years agoI haven't done much pocket racing yet. Ignored the Shogi guy as I don't know how to play it
As for the sidequests I have gone through Yakuza 1-4 and half of 5 in the last 3-4 years and still enjoy the sidequestsFrom 3 onwards I tried to complete all of them bar Amon ones too.

Registered 2 years agoMechanically it's not the best game ever, but I need to see how the love triangle with the pocket race drivers pans out and can't stop wondering if the the not very dominating dominatrix is being mindful of the lessons shown to her to succeed in her chosen profession.

Registered 2 years agoFinally hit chapter three and got using Majima - immediately prefer his first fighting style.
Was half thinking of binning it but his absolutely ridiculous intro reminded me why I play games in the first place. -

Registered 15 years agoStarting to get annoyed by this - far too many cut-scenes for my liking (4 different types of cut-scenes no less!). The enjoyable combat feels like a rare treat after yet another cut-scene.
I appreciate that Japanese games often feature more non-interactive sequences than their Western counterparts (something really noticeable to me after completing Horizon: Zero Dawn). It's just frustrating for me, seeing as the cut-scenes are mostly conversation-based I find myself reading the subtitles and skipping the dialogue when I can more often that I'd like. -

Registered 13 years agoNever found any yakuza game to be difficult, you can button mash your way through most of it -

Very very easy even on normal. If you do the property management or (brilliant) cabaret club when first available you can make it even easier by massively overlevelling your character. It's a real shame we couldn't start on Legrndary difficulty so we could get the plat without the need to play through again - not because it isn't great, just really long.
