I would say St Vincent is pop, yeah.

She does play guitar though, so maybe half pop half rock. Still wouldn't consider her fully rock.

    @Physically_Insane

    Never go full rock.

i don't really know what "rock" means at this point, but there's more written about her guitar playing than most (any?) modern artists. the song that's on there is all riffs.

I'll be honest, I haven't listened to that particular St Vincent track, but I've heard stuff of hers on 6Music that is awful electropop sounding guff, so I lumped her in with pop.

...Just listened to the track. Same sort of guff, having a couple of guitar chords interspersed occasionally over a drum machine track does not a rock song make. Can imagine it's boring to play in game if you're the guitarist too. Point still stands!

She has been nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Alternative Music Album.

It's not the live version on the game though is it? That sounded completely different to the album version I listened to.

I thought St Vincent was Bill Murray?

    Yeah so has Gnarls Barkley.

She's obviously not comparable to pop artists like Britney Spears or Rihanna. I would label her as an electronic Kate Bush.

if kate bush was a famously great guitarist? the studio version of that song just has mad fuzz on the guitar - it's the exact same arrangement. there's no electronics there, beyond maybe the bass synth that's on that video.

    opinions, etc.

Anyone know if I need the discs for the old Rock Bands, or will the export key do? I exported all the songs from RB 1 and 2 and sold the discs, y'see.

She also doesn't have Kate Bush's face, name or family. Are we only allowed to compare artists that play the same instruments?

    Fair enough.

Still doesn't make the game's tracklist any good. All the new actual rock bands that have emerged since the previous Rock Band game was released that could have featured, and yet they stick sodding Uptown Funk on there!
  • Deleted user 24 September 2015 11:32:36
I want to see Tame Impala on there.
  • Deleted user 24 September 2015 11:33:35
And The Beatles as I didn't get a chance to play Beatles Rock Band, but that'll never happen again.

I asked them on twitter, regarding the Xbox version and they said I did NOT need the discs, that it would go off the details in my gamertag.

we keep this going if you want! kate bush is a valid comparison in many ways, i just don't get the 'electronic' thing. there's some of that, but she's a guitar virtuoso by most measures.

OK, fine, she's rock. Go have a victory wank.

    St Vincent is decent.

Every critic seems to lose their shit over her albums though

Just for people who preorder through Xbox Live too. Which sucks, because I'm fairly certain I can't buy a digital plastic guitar from Xbox Live.

Any news on pricing for the full band set up?

Last time I went with guitar hero but that stupid 'live' gimmick has put me right off.

Yep, did you listen to the track in the video which is most definitely a rock song and not a parody cover of an existing song like the majority of his stuff?

    £110.

Remember when Guitar Hero 3 came out and it was £70 for the game and guitar? Such halcyon days.
