It's better that it's more expensive on the switch, though
  • Deleted user 14 May 2018 07:46:40
If you really want the switch version digitally then buy it from the Canada eshop. It's 28 there. Still not great but at least it's closer to the other platforms.

Aye there is a lot of leeway about price from different stores or again if you're likely to lose long-term interest buy the "hard copy" and love around 5 quid when you sell it on...

It all bodes well for Monster Hunter, doesn't it? I'm sure most folk will vote with their wallet, but the last Street Fighter on Switch had an RRP of 50 and still sold half a million copies.

Gave the Arms demo a few tries, and I actually really like it - it's pretty fun with standard controls, and I love the colourful art style and character designs. I'm almost tempted to give the full game a try, but I do wonder if there's enough depth and content in there to warrant 50(!)...

35 quid all in for physical copy on ebay

    ebay

Plus my nephew hasty stopped playing it for months and months - seems to have had a huge amount of extra content added.

Arms core gameplay is great. Really, really good.

But there are hardly any modes. I reckon it is worth 25-30.

Online lobbies are still really well populated (I was playing last night). I wonder if this will change when we have to start paying for online...? Will the player count drop off a cliff?

Just having to go through the rigmarole of paying for online could really cut down the number of players though.

Remember, half the people we are playing against will be kids who don't have ready to a bank card to just set up another payment. Will they really all want to go to the bank of mum and dad just to play Mario Kart and Arms online (with no party chat), rather than ask for Fortnite vbucks or whatever...

Bank of mum and dad is literally how every child on the planet plays games anyway. The fact that alot of kids play switch won't affect much.

Maybe. But there are only about 3 major online games on the Switch? (Arms, Mario Kart, Splatoon?). So you are paying for less...

And for a lot of families the Switch will be a second console, or the first console in a house which isn't used to paying for online gaming (because they don't own a PS4 or Xbox...)

We will see. Doesn't happen until September anyway, so still a good few months of Arms fun to be had either way... 😃

That will probably all change when Smash Bros. is out, though. Not to mention Pokemon and Animal Crossing.

By then Smash Bros, and Mario Tennis at least will be out, maybe a couple more will drop?

I don't mind paying the twenty quid for a year but the drip feed starting from NES again is beyond belief.

I think the NES games are just supposed to be a bonus, and for 20 a year I very much doubt they will add any games from later systems.

A bonus yes but they are dealing with expectations from years of GWG and PSPlus.

It's now an expected part of the whole shebang.

And if they keep with Nes games which is highly unlikely then what of VC. Would they really obfuscate the whole retro thing that much?

Does it require vouchers or can you buy from Canada with PayPal? I could do this from Russia but not USA IIRC.

I've heard the Switch doesn't have online features the Wii U had. Is that true? I know the Wii U didn't use friend codes.

The Wii U certainly did use friend codes, but to answer the question the Switch doesn't have Miiverse or a web browser. Or Netflix. Or YouTube.

I suppose Miiverse, as great as it was, has been substituted with uploading screenshots/clips to YouTube and Twitter. Who knows if our when we'll see the other features.

I've always used codes from pcgamesupply for US and Canada. Don't think it works via PayPal and card.

Grabbed LA Noire for 15 from MusicMagpie. Downloading the patch or whatever it is right now. Really need to get that Micro SD card at some point...

It needs parity with the other two on at least messaging and some sort of party function. It's 12 years after the 360 launched with that feature and it's frankly astonishing you can't message people from your friends list.

I love my Switch but Nintendo will Nintendo.

Is it just me or has there been a scarcity of announcements in the last month or so. Not only that but nothing good thats been announced is releasing.

This thing is dead as a dodo.

And its nothing to do with E3 all we'll see is Smash (booooring) and 100 year old spectrum games

Crazy talk. Hyrule Warriors, Mario Tennis and Captain Toad are all due over the next couple of months. I know two are ports but they're good games that are worth playing for those who haven't already.
