    My Switch arrived today \o/

Sadly I can't play it until Christmas day, but I think I should thoroughly 'test' it between now and then...

Well you have to at least update it right? Maybe a quick peak in the eshop. Download a couple of demos. You know, so it's ready for Christmas day.

Metroid prime trilogy coming to switch!

    https://www.inet.se/produkt/6609611/metroid-prime-trilogy-switch

Now I bought the trilogy day 1 on wiiu as it had a 50% discount, but I never got round to playing them (for what would be a second time).

Am I going to triple dip? Most likely, unless the price is way higher than the wiiu release.

I think the MPT is a given, but according to Nintendo Life the retailer claims the product is just a rumour in the translation but suspects the game will be announced at the Game Awards later this week. So we will have to see. But hopefully!

MPT still looks and plays great on WiiU. I replayed MP1 a couple of months ago

Wha..? I thought that only applied to the EG SS gift?!

Well, anyway, I've hidden it away to minimise the temptation...

    PLEASE BE TRUE.

Also hope all the games have the option for GameCube-style controls.

I'd prefer gyro myself. The original feels kinda clunky without it.

How come nobody gave a shit when I posted the MPT rumour a page or two back?

Was it my turn to get the shunning?

It'll run on a GC emulator, inside a Wii emulator, inside a Wii U emulator, inside the Switch.

@Ror I don't think it'll happen. An upscaled port of a port will just look weird on Nintendo's part. Especially considering the work they've put into remastering Zelda games in the past 5 or 6 years.

That and if its more than an upscaling job (say they've improved textures and lighting), they're going to make the 4th game seem quite expensive when that releases.

Being Nintendo, I could imagine they're more likely going to announce a remaster of the first Prime game and sell it for 30 - 40 quid. That would be the Nintendo way.

    @DangerousDave_87 I could see that.

But then, I suppose it's possible that Retro has been working on a decent remaster of the trilogy..? We still don't know what they've been up to, do we?

I'd pay £40 for a decent Switch trilogy.

I might actually consider MPT if they give me proper first person shooter controls.

What if they've been working on a Nintendo themed MMO for the last few years? Imagine how delightful that would (not) be. Or, even worse, they have been working on stuff but ending up binning it all due to failed ideas and development hell.

The wii controls shat over other controls from quite a height.

I just want some hope that MP4 will be like MP1 and not federation/shit npc crap

Iíd kill for a PORT of F-Zero GX. As close to perfect a game Iíve ever played, never bettered.

Played it for a little while a couple of years ago when I setup my GC, itís aged exceptionally well, silky 60fps.

I'm just curious to see what MP4 looks like. I'm a bit unsure about it being made by a completely unrelated team, but the fact they're billing it as a Prime game specifically at least suggest that it'll hew closely to that formula.

I am in the minority of preferring F-Zero X. Not sure if it was because it was my first F-Zero or because I found it harder to navigate the tracks in GX. The minimalist graphics in X meant it was always obvious where the track was heading but I could not navigate some of GXís tracks purely by sight.

GX was hard as nails in the mission mode, or whatever it was called. Never completed that.

I preferred F Zero X as well. GX was great, but X is the purest racer Iíve ever played. Beating the staff ghosts in X was tough and became an obsession. Even death race was enjoyable as a challenge with friends.

Guess I'm in the minority in thinking that the original MP control scheme on GameCube was perfect then. I loved that it wasn't a generic first person shooter (which they could've done on GC so it was clearly a deliberate choice) and thought the use of Z-targeting and a slower pace took the focus away from twitch aiming skills brilliantly and made the game totally unique.

And I've never ever got on with motion/gyro aiming controls, so if that's the only option then I think I'd be out, however much I love the game.

It won't be the only option. They'd definitely have it in there, though.

    @atothewest

Yeah I agree. Can see the desire for traditional controls, but z-targeting was a good fit for the first person adventure feel of it imo. Played 1&2 with the Wiimote, it was demonstrably quicker and more accurate, but stilll prefer the og control scheme and Iíve grown to despise motion controls.

Is Diablo 3 playable in single player or does it need multi player to be any good?
Its on special on eshop at the moment.

It's fine in single player. Plenty of things to do.
