I play entirely in single player tbh. If you like the gameplay loop it's amazing. I can see how it might bore some people, but those people are wrong.

Might get Octopath over Xmas, but Pokemon is very tempting and might be better for me.

I caved and ordered Smash of the e-shop. A bit expensive ,but the £6 cash back almost makes up for it. An early xmas present. No doubt i will get some money from someone over xmas that i'll just bank.

Now fully on the hype train for no reason at all other than a new game is coming out tomorrow.

Is this a reskin of the WiiU version or an entirely new game?

Depends, if you're trying to score internet points it's a port.

    New Smash is all New.

Every character who has ever been in Smash, plus some new ones, plus a well curated set of single player modes. Unique arcade mode for every character reflecting their own game series (eg. Ryu is all 1v1s on Stamina so it's more like SF) plus a huge adventure type mode of themed battles.

I received some cash in a Christmas card yesterday so I went straight to Sainsbury's to buy eShop cards so I could preload Smash.

Now it's all preloaded and I might just stay up tonight and see if it unlocks at midnight. I haven't bought a Smash game since Brawl so I'm all aquiver with excitement!

So my Satisfye gaming grip arrived.

Used it for about an hour in total, think its really good. It does add weight to the console, but somehow the redistribution and positioning of hands makes it more comfortable to hold anwyay.

The grip feels nice and tight, but not too tight, so easy to slide off and put into the dock.

Only downside is, of course it doesnt fit in my case

It seems to me it is every smash game in one.

Apparently the custom options are really extensive that you can make it play a lot like melee by reducing the gravity etc.

I haven't played any of them, but am tempted to this time. A good single player mode would certainly help.

What Switch game should I get in my christmas stocking, folks? Tossing up between these:

    Diablo
    Civ 6
    Wolfenstein
    Dark Souls

I think most people will say Diablo, but it just looks so fucking mindless.

    Anyone played Wolfenstein on Switch?

I'd say Civ 6, the only thing that's put me off is that there are soon to be 2 expansions, and i want the full game.

Really i should just play on my gpdwin 2 i guess

I'd probably say Civ 6 and I haven't even played it. Dark Souls is pretty good, but its jankyness stops it from being a classic.

I don't know why people keep describing Diablo as "mindless", as if that's such a bad thing. Sometimes mindless is exactly what I want in a game.

You mean the Switch version? I'm trying to convince my brother to get it, but he's put off by the reports of really bad audio.

I played wolfenstein. Was pretty good if you like fps games. Played entirely in handheld.

@Kay Audio seems fine to me, but I've not played any other version. I'm more referring to controls, camera, hit detection and such. It's perfectly playable, though.

What's janky about DS hit detection? It's some of the best in the business!#

Really enjoyed Wolfenstein, and Panic Button have continued optimising since launch. If youíve played DOOM youíll know it can get a bit blurry when it gets a bit processor-heavy, but overall itís great. Iíve played it roughly 50/50 in handheld/docked.

Civ 6 however is a brilliant port and would absolutely be my recommendation. I really hope they release the expansions.

Hm, might go for Wolf then. I think it's more my thing than Diablo or Civ. I finished Dark Souls on the 360 and I can't decide if I want to revisit it tbh.

It is, and that's also kind of the point, but, like Mola_Ram said - why is that a problem? :) It's mindless in the sense that you can "get into the zone" pretty easily with the game. There's still lots of mind-occupying min-maxing and whatnot.

As different as the genres are, Diablo gets me in a similar state like a good racing game. Maybe when time-trialling. I know the track, I know every corner, I am concentrated, but more on a sub-conscious level.

For my money it's the *perfect* podcast or audiobook game. Some builds require so little concentration that you can easily absorb a podcast while playing.

Also: it's just good fun. And I say this as someone who will probably put Into the Breach as their GOTY. No it doesn't require much thinking, but that's not a bad thing.

FWIW Monkman, I thought Wolfenstein was a pretty poor game on PC, especially in the light of its predecessor which I also found a little disappointing.

In the Nintendo Fan compound, the Tannoy crackles into life: "Can everyone please gather in the gymnasium and take a cup of Kool-Aid while we wait for the scores to come in"

    Edge gave it a 9.

I wish I was even slightly interested in Smash, I love the look of it, but the gameplay leaves me stone cold unfortunately.
